John Helmberger wants to save the universe!

John Helmberger heads Minnesota for Marriage - yet another National Organization for Marriage affiliate seeking to ban same-sex marriage. There is enough hyperbole in this missive to make Donald Trump self-conscious. You would think, from this email, that heterosexuals will no longer be able to marry if gays can marry. Seriously.  Just read the first paragraph (emphasis added).

In spite of all this drivel, there is one question that this email blast does not answer. It's the question that NOM, Maggie and Robby have never been able answer:

What is the adverse effect that same-sex marriage has on so-called "traditional" marriage?

Fellow Minnesotans:

So you think that the unthinkable can't happen? That marriage as we know it, between one man and one woman, couldn't possibly be eradicated in America?

My fellow Minnesotans, think again. Unless you step up and help us educate the good people of our state, we will lose marriage - likely forever. Every $250, $100, or even $50 will help us talk to the good people of our state about what they will lose if Marriage is not preserved at the ballot box.

Marriage has been under full frontal assault lately.

Right here in Hennepin County, the group Marry Me Minnesota is suing on behalf of activist same-sex couples, claiming that marriage is "unconstitutional." But that's not the most offensive thing they're arguing. They say that marriage is so "discriminatory" that it isn't even entitled to a legal defense! They actually demand that officials in Hennepin County stop defending our state's marriage laws and surrender so that these same-sex couples can get "married" before Minnesota voters have the chance to vote on the constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman!

Mad yet? Want to do something about it?

In California, the wacky US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, the most overruled court in the land, overturned the will of millions of Californians who said in 2008 by way of the ballot: "The State of California will recognize only one man one woman marriage."

Two judges told over seven million Californians who voted to preserve marriage "your beliefs amount to irrational bigotry so your votes will count for nothing!" Talk about judicial tyranny!

Even madder? Want to do something about it?

In Washington State, left wing legislators and their radical Governor redefined marriage. Now Washington voters will have to organize an expensive referendum campaign just to have the ability to stand up for traditional marriage in November.

Now are you mad? Want to do something about it?

The good news: Governor Chris Christie vetoed same sex marriage passed by the New Jersey legislature and said what any good responsible public servant should say:

"Let the people decide marriage as they have been allowed to do in 31 states."

The radical left doesn't want your voice heard. That is why they go to activist judges and leftist politicians to impose their will. They know that when people have the right to vote on marriage… the people want marriage preserved. Every state to vote on marriage has voted to preserve traditional marriage.

What does all this mean to us in Minnesota? It means that we will be able to set the example for the rest of the country in 2012 and defend marriage once again on the ballot. When people vote, marriage wins...every time.

Fellow Minnesotans, we have the opportunity before us to defend what we know is right in November: That Marriage is a special, unique relationship between a man and a woman.

To combat the lies and the hatred that will be spun by those who want to tear at the fabric of America, we need your help. Help Minnesota for Marriage have the most effective voter education effort the state has ever seen.

May God richly bless you and your family.
