Kirk Cameron Now Claims to Have Gay Friends. Seriously?

Has been child actor, Kirk Cameron, issued a statement today with the usual Chirstianist blather.  Now Mr.Cameron can return to obscurity and irrelevance.

. . . I spoke as honestly as I could, but some people believe my responses were not loving toward those in the gay community. That is not true. I can assuredly say that it's my life's mission to love all people.
Can you  feel the love? Later on, Mr. Cameron indulges in self-victimization (emphasis added):
I believe that freedom of speech and freedom of religion go hand-in-hand in America. I should be able to express moral views on social issues – especially those that have been the underpinning of Western civilization for 2,000 years – without being slandered, accused of hate speech, and told from those who preach "tolerance" that I need to either bend my beliefs to their moral standards or be silent when I'm in the public square.
Mr. Cameron is free to express his warped point of view which has nothing to do with his First Amendment rights which refer solely to government intrusion on his right to be a horse's ass. "Slandered?" Really? So criticizing Mr. Cameron is slander? Give it a rest, Kirk. You are not intellectually up to creating a controversy.

But I was most intrigued by his closing paragraph which begins:
I've been encouraged by the support of many friends (including gay friends, incidentally). Thank you!
Who knew? So Mr. Cameron has friends whom he thinks, and says, are "destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization." Really? I suspect that their identities are as elusive as those foundations of civilization.
