Masterpiece Cakeshop fails to anger

I am astonished     even amused     by the spectacular stupidity. Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Bakeshop (sic) in Lakewood, CO decided on July 19 that he would neither bake nor sell a wedding cake destined for a gay couple. According to a local television station Phillips said he isn’t a homophobe, and that he would gladly serve any other baked good to a gay couple — just not a wedding cake:
I’m a follower of Jesus Christ, so you could say this is a religious belief I believe the Bible teaches that homosexuality is not an OK thing.
Poor hapless Jack drawing a Christian line in the sand. Does he use a qualification questionnaire? After all, isn't he obligated to determine if either participant is divorced? Does he inquire if the bride to be is a virgin? Jack also makes cakes to celebrate newborns. Does he check if any are the issue of unwed mothers? Would Jack Phillips bake a Bar Mitzvah cake? What is his point and where does this silliness end?

Where do these so-called "Christians" get the notion that selective observation of ancient texts overrides respect for, and common decency towards, other people? It's the pettiness that is so annoying. They have all the stock answers about how their discrimination is really "love for all of God's children." The rote has replaced critical thinking.

It is this demonstrated lack of intellectual curiosity that makes these people less relevant by the day.

Jack claims a bump in business. That will be temporary. The gay community has a very long memory when it comes to discrimination. What these idiots never quite get is that roughly 40% of the citizenry has someone who is gay in their immediate family. Dick Cheney wouldn't shop at Jack's store. I often wonder what happens when these morons have gay children.

Ultimately, we don't give a rodent's rear if Jack Phillips likes us or approves of us. However, we do expect him to serve us in accordance with Colorado law which states:
A public accommodation is any place of business engaged in offering sales or services of any kind to the public. ... Places of public accommodation may not deny any person participation, entry, or services based upon the person’s sexual orientation or transgender status.
Jack Phillips will become a hero in fundamentalist circles like that "photographer in New Mexico" that they are always referring to. If his actions bring him to court, ADF or Liberty Counsel will no doubt jump to his defense along with grandiose statements about his religious liberty. Of course they will ignore the fact that it is our liberties to be treated equally that were really compromised.
