National Organization for Chick-fil-A

Beginning July 19, NOM has inked 51 52 blog posts about Chick-fil-A. Apparently, this is their new argument in support of their anti-gay discrimination. CFA franchises will probably see a very temporary boost in sales due to the organized efforts of various "Christian" groups. NOM will trumpet this increase in revenues as support for denying gay citizens equal rights.

Once the smoked chicken fat clears, a few persistent facts remain:
  • NOM exists for, and is a proxy of, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops     opposing marriage equality for religious reasons.
  • NOM's meretricious talking points are constructed to persuade people to oppose marriage equality in contrast to a truthful exploration of the matter.
  • NOM has yet to provide an intellectually honest and coherent argument in opposition to marriage equality.
  • These are the same religious zealots who are targeting a number of companies for their support of equal rights for gay citizens.
  • The statements of Dan Cathy, Chick-fil-A's COO, would have received little or no attention if they did not coincide with his family's donation of millions of dollars to anti-gay hate groups and groups supporting crackpot reorientation programs.
  • Mr. Cathy is entitled to his  opinion.
  • A portion of money spent at Chick-fil-A funds discriminatory, anti-gay activities.
Ultimately, it makes perfect sense not to spend money at these "restaurants."
