Today's Prop 8 Proceedings

Today, Olson and Boies filed a brief in opposition to the Prop 8 case proceeding to the US Supreme Court. If you have the patience, this makes for a good read as it summarizes the path of the case to date and exposes the issues in an easy to understand fashion. Should the Supreme Court decline to hear this case, marriage equality will immediately take effect in California.  Either way, I expect a favorable outcome. The past four years have been long and frustrating.

One sentence stood out for me:

Indeed, it fairly could be maintained that the question whether the States may discriminate against gay men and lesbians in the provision of marriage licenses is the defining civil rights issue of our time.
