Protect Marriage Maine: "Our Children Will Suffer"

Same-sex marriage does not change the custody of a single child. The only children affected by marriage equality are those who are being being raised by gay couples.  Indeed, those kids will enjoy the security afforded by having married parents. In spite of logic and truth, this garbage about children and marriage equality continues to flow from NOM campaign manager, Frank Schubert.

I hold the local anti-equality activists in Maine, Bob Emrich and Carroll Conley, responsible as this bullshit is sent in their names. Their behavior has only two explanations; Either they are spectacularly stupid or pathological liars. Similar dishonest crap is all over their website.

I have had email exchanges with most of these people     including Schubert. As soon as I ask them to explain how same-sex marriage affects children, the conversation comes to an end. The lies continue.

Gay teens are being told that gay people are a threat to children. Children being raised by gays are being told that they are at risk.

A wide range of social science data shows that children do best when raised by their married mother and father. Children who are raised without a mom or dad are more likely to have mental and physical health problems, they are more likely to be raised in poverty, they have less educational attainment, and they are more prone to delinquency and criminal activity, among other problems. The research confirms what we know to be true—children need the love of both a mother and a father. A man and woman bring separate but complementary skills to parenting that simply cannot be matched by two parents of the same sex.

If Question One passes on November 6, marriage will be made a genderless institution in our state, and our children will be the ones who suffer. Will you be silent as radical activists seek to harm the futures of our children and grandchildren?

and Emrich are sanctimonious liars.
