NOMnuts - Brian Brown makes no sense

In the way of background, National Organization for Marriage is obsessed with unseating New York legislature Republicans who voted in favor of marriage equality. They have generally been unsuccessful and they are not scaring anyone in any other state. Their top target was State Senator Mark Grisanti. In spite of NOM, Grisanti won his primary race handily. Now NOM is backing Charles Swanick, a Democrat who is running on the Conservative line. Grisanti has a commanding lead. The most recent poll gives Grisanti 47% followed by the Dem with 23%. Swanick is polling at 17%. NOM is not pleased. This inspired a press release from NOM:
Brian Brown, President of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) today called out New York State Senator Mark Grisanti for outright lying in a debate with his two opponents ...
According to Brown, the lie was Grisanti saying that he did not campaign against marriage equality in 2010.

Brown continues:
For Mark Grisanti to say he didn't run on the issue of marriage couldn't be further from the truth, In 2008, I had a phone conversation with him. He pledged his support and took our money. I can't imagine how it could be any clearer.
Brian is obviously losing his mind! What Grisanti said in 2008 bears no relevance to what he did in 2010. During his 2010 campaign, when asked, Grisanti said that he opposed gay marriage. However, there is no evidence that he was campaigning on the issue. There is a distinction.

That brings us to the spring and summer of 2011. In May, Grisanti opposed marriage equality. In mid-June he said that he was undecided and on June 24 he voted for it. In summary, Grisanti reconciled his Catholic beliefs with the ethic and importance of equality which is something that Brian Brown lacks the integrity to ever do.
