Yesterday I wrote about Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller likening criticism of the Catholic Church to persecution of Jews at the hands of the Third Reich. Just in case there were any Jews that this idiot did not piss off, he has now said that recent "targeted campaigns to discredit" the Catholic Church remind him of a "pogrom."
A pogrom is, or was, an organized and violent mob attack against Jews that was orchestrated by local authorities. While this tactic originated in Russia, The German Kristalnacht in 1938 was considered a "pogrom." It resulted in approximately 100 deaths and some 25,000 arrests of Jews. As many as 10,000 Jewish-owned businesses were destroyed.
This is what the Vatican puts forward as the head of the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Yesterday, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Today? There is no doubt.
