Equal Marriage in England & Wales Passes with 70% Plurality

The House of Commons has passed equal marriage by a vote of 400 to 175. Most opposition came from members of the Conservative Party but even their votes were split; 132 for and 140 against equal marriage. The bill now proceeds to a committee for further legal scrutiny.
