Mohler: '...no issue defines our current cultural crisis as clearly as homosexuality'

If there is a "cultural crisis" then Al Mohler is one of its architects.

Al Mohler
Al Mohler is the President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Mohler puts the Bible in the Belt. In a blog post titled; No Truth Without Love, No Love Without Truth: The Church’s Great Challenge; Mohler writes:
The church’s engagement with the culture involves a host of issues, controversies, and decisions–but no issue defines our current cultural crisis as clearly as homosexuality. Some churches and denominations have capitulated to the demands of the homosexual rights movement, and now accept homosexuality as a fully valid lifestyle.

When someone describes a sexual orientation as a "lifestyle" they forfeit a presumption of intellectual honesty. Mohler is not exempt from that inescapable correlation. Moreover, the fact that most liturgical Protestants have moved on, does not mean that they have "capitulated" to anyone. Moreover, why does Mohler think that the church defines our culture? That seems rather arrogant to me

Furthermore, as a son of the South Mohler knows perfectly well that the Bible was used as an instrument of segregation (following its use to justify slavery). Will he take responsibility for the church defining culture in that era? Did churches capitulate to the African-American rights movement? It's nonsense.

Mohler's problem is that he is a literalist who believes that the Bible is the inerrant word of God. Context is irrelevant to Mohler. Yet, like most literalists, Mohler is probably a hypocrite who violates tenets of the Bible on a daily basis. It constitutes selective observation. Where, exactly, did his god provide anyone with a point system for the severity of sin? Did Mohler's bible come with one passage of Leviticus italicized or highlighted in yellow?
