Rhode Island Bishop Thomas J. Tobin has a hissy fit over marriage equality

When it comes to equal rights for gays, Thomas J. Tobin has asked; What is the source of this so-called "civil right?" He has also made it perfectly clear that he, and his fellow bishops, have the right to impose their religious beliefs on everyone, including non-Catholics. Now that marriage equality is law in Rhode Island, and he is no longer required to be civil, Tobin loses whatever sheen of courtesy that he might still have. This, according to Catholic News Agency includes the usual disordered people with same-sex attraction bullshit. Tobin also tells parishioners not to attend gay weddings:
The bishop said it is important to affirm Catholic teaching that homosexual acts are “intrinsically disordered.” He said same-sex unions are “clearly contrary to God’s plan for the human family and therefore objectively sinful.”

“Catholics should examine their consciences very carefully before deciding whether or not to endorse same-sex relationships or attend same-sex ceremonies, realizing that to do so might harm their relationship with God and cause significant scandal to others,” the bishop said.

Though Catholics are not free to “endorse or ignore immoral or destructive behavior,” Bishop Tobin stressed that the Catholic Church has “respect, love and pastoral concern for our brothers and sisters who have same-sex attraction.”
These pampered prelates never learn and never will.  You cannot claim that we are disordered and refer to us as people "with same-sex attraction" and then expect us, or anyone else, to believe for a moment that you have any "respect" or "love" for us.

Moreover, while they might be experts when it comes to silk, servants and luxury cars, they know absolutely nothing about marriage, relationships or love. They should stop pretending otherwise.
