June 9 is ADF's Pulpit Freedom Sunday - Sort of

ADF has decided that this Sunday is Pulpit Freedom Sunday.

Ordinarily Pulpit Freedom Sunday, organized by Alliance Defending Freedom, occurs in late October. In an act of defiance, preachers endorse candidates from the pulpit in direct violation of IRS regulations. It doesn't appear that anyone loses their tax exempt status; The IRS hasn't audited any churches since circa 2007.

This Sunday, there will be no acts of civil disobedience. Nope. This Sunday will be an organized anti-gay hate fest. According to ADF:
Marriage – it is the basic building block of society. Yet it is under attack like never before. Alliance Defending Freedom has fought to protect the freedom of America’s pulpits because we know that the pulpit must be free to convey biblical Truth on the great moral and social issues confronting our culture. On June 9, 2013, join thousands of your fellow pastors by preaching biblical Truth about God’s design for marriage.
The simple fact is that recent polls showing increasing support for marriage equality have scared the shit out of ADF:
These statistics should be a wake-up call for pastors who think that they can avoid preaching about these issues. Public opinion on the issues of same-sex “marriage” and homosexual behavior is shifting dramatically. What are you as a pastor doing to counter this shift?

The Supreme Court is poised to render decisions on two cases by the end of June that could redefine marriage. Before the Supreme Court has its say, shouldn’t America’s pastors be heard about what God says on the subject?
It is vital that you participate because, to be candid, there’s a lot of work to be done. And, as a pastor, you are in a position to be heard. You can make a difference in your congregation, in the community, and eventually throughout the culture.
