NOM blog celebrates French dead-enders

Manif Pour Tous
Could they be any gayer?
They can call it La Manif Pour Tous or anything else. That won't change the fact that France has equal marriage.

Nor, for that matter, will MPT change the fact that they are a proxy for the Roman Catholic Church. No matter how many protesters the RC hierarchy can turn out, the majority of French citizens support marriage equality. However, according to National Organization for Marriage: Leaders of the French Pro-Marriage Movement: We Will Surrender Nothing!

On January 24, 1972, Sergeant Shoichi Yokoi, of the Imperial Japanese Army was discovered on the island of Guam. He was unaware that the war ended 27 years earlier. But I digress. The folks with the French anti-gay movement have some underdeveloped conceptions:
The truth is that we do not have the same notion of equality as our opponents do. Our belief, held by most of the country, rests first on the equality of children, equality before the right to have a father and mother, that is to say, an origin and real heritage, rather than a false heritage. Based on that we have come together as atheists, Christians, Jews, Muslims, right, left, straight, gay. For all, the truth that we owe to the child is sacred. We do not want children’s lives to be woven around lies, nor do we want gender studies ideology to triumph.
Perhaps this is Frank Schubert lost in translation. At least they admit that their idea of equality is to keep some people unequal. I gather that they don't want gay couples to adopt. Exactly why that is remains unexplained. The last sentence about "gender studies ideology" sounds like (although I cannot be sure) they don't like science very much and that sounds familiar. Does this rant have anything to do with equal marriage.

The full diatribe can be found at Rusty Reno's Catholic blog, First Things. Towards the end of the verbose and pedantic rant comes this:
Whatever happens, the torch of French resistance must not go out.
What? They have delusions that they are part of the underground opposing the Third Reich? These folks have some rather inflated egos.

A majority of French citizens already support marriage equality. Within a year or so most of what remains will realize that the sky hasn't fallen and that France is still attached to the continent. I kind of hope that cute guys, shirtless except for their pink overalls, keep protesting.
