Christianist Scouts Tell a Fib

Why does the holier-than-thou crowd seem to have a penchant for not telling the truth? When did the God squad become demagogues?

For his part, John Stemberger, founder of the new Scouts alternative and dull witted Florida attorney, must presume that nobody will fact check. Writing of their executive national director, Rob Green:
Rob became Scout Executive/CEO in September 2004, and helped facilitate the Palmetto Council’s turnaround, consistently balancing the budget, growing programs, and achieving Quality Council distinction year after year.
The Palmetto Council, headquartered in Spartanburg, South Carolina, is one of the Boy Scouts' smaller regional councils. In 2011, revenues were $1.2 million. I don't know what a "consistently balanced budget" means to Stemberger. According to tax returns, the council lost money (a total of about $400 thousand) in 2009, 2010 and 2011, the latest year for which information is available. While complete tax returns are unavailable prior to 2009, it would appear that the council lost money in 2005 and 2006 as well.

Mr. Stemberger's heterosexual Christian only scouting alternative is not off to a good start.

I am informed that the average BSA troop, nationally, is comprised of 15 to 30 Scouts. Perhaps each troop will contain one openly gay boy, many of whom will have already been in the troop in the closet. What will it cost to "quarantine" that one kid? It seems quite possible that Stemberger's average troop will also have one gay boy — in the closet.

If this really gets off the ground, what will have been achieved?
