According to the blog of American Family Association (which is also listed as a hate group by SPLC):
The president of the Family Research Council says his pro-family organization is weighing actions it might take against the Southern Poverty Law Center for labeling FRC a “hate group."Good luck with that. IS FRC trying to silence a group that they don't like?
Tony Perkins, president of the FRC, says the SPLC has been given a platform to “recklessly label and incite hatred” toward the FRC and other conservatives. He blames that in part on the relationship with the U.S. Justice Department. There is no excuse for violence. The group that incited the violence in this instance was clearly Family Research Council — not SPLC. FRC is an anti-gay hate group. SPLC did not pull that designation out of thin air. FRC goes out of its way to anger gay people through lies and disparagement.
"And it is very troubling and it's dangerous, and the Southern Poverty Law Center is inciting violence,” Perkins tells OneNewsNow. “It is clearly connected in this case to this act of violence and they do need to be stopped."
The SPLC is overseen by attorney Morris Dees, who was confronted by CNS News this summer about Corkins’ confession that he used the Law Center and its "Hate Map."Wrong. Dees is the founder and Chief Trial Attorney. The President and CEO of SPLC is Richard Cohen. Their board chairman is Howard Mandell.
Dees responded that “having a group on our Hate Map doesn’t cause anybody to attack them anymore than they attacked us for one thing or another.”That sounds about right.
The Southern Poverty Law Center "is actually linked now, through the evidence in federal court, to terrorism,” says Perkins. “We will be looking at every avenue possible to protect not only FRC but to protect all conservatives and all Americans from the reckless behavior of the Southern Poverty Law Center."Perkins is trying to give the impression that evidence submitted in court supports the notion that SPLC is supporting terrorism. One thing for certain is that this is not the way to get removed from the hate group list. FRC is lying about SPLC just like they lie about gay people.
The good news is that SPLC does the right thing and there is nothing that Perkins can do about it.
