Jennifer, you're fired - effective immediately!

National Organization for Marriage announced today that, effective today, Ruth Institute is no longer part of NOM. No advance preparation seems to have gone into the separation of the organization:
The National Organization for Marriage Education Fund is happy to announce that the Ruth Institute will be running as an independent organization effective November 1, 2013. The Ruth Institute has operated as a project of NOM's Education Fund over the last three years. NOM is proud of the great work that the Ruth Institute is doing and is happy that its work has grown to the point where it will operate independently.

“Happy to announce?” Ruth hasn't even had time to fix its website and remove the NOM label. Nor, for that matter have they re-established their tax-exempt status with the IRS. It would appear that NOM needs to shed the salaries of Jennifer Roback Morse and her one or two support staff in San Diego.

Ruth Institute is assetless. NOM purchased the nominal assets when it acquired the organization. Even their Internet domains are actually owned by NOM. Eventually we will find out what precipitated this.
