The Duck Schmuck and Utah Marriage Equality

Brian Brown, head of National Organization for Marriage is having another very bad day to cap off a very bad week. It looks increasingly like the effort to overturn California's transgender protection law (something that NOM is invested in) is doomed as the error rate for petition signatures is well beyond what is required for the petition to be valid.

Then there was marriage equality in New Mexico and now, this afternoon, we have marriage equality in Utah of all places (unless overturned by the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals). Meanwhile NOM has been intensely focused on the supposed persecution of some weird Christian from Duck Dynasty who, I am informed, is a close cousin to Honey Boo Boo. NOM is worried about marriage. Frankly, I am worried that trailer trash has become entertainment on TEEvee. But I digress.

It was only a few weeks ago that Mr. Brown crowed, in a post titled Myths vs. History:
But the "low hanging fruit" for the other side is gone. Now we have the chance to make sure the wave of same-sex marriage momentum crests and rolls back. That story is ours to write: this is your time, along with countless other pro-marriage Americans, to make history.
Crests? Rolls back? I think that we'll have to enjoy equality in Mississippi or Oklahoma before this nincompoop realizes that he and the US Conference of Catholic Bishops are just going to have to put up with queers getting married. About all these ancient "thinkers" can do is to refuse to consecrate those unions. Just about a year ago, the BS was remarkably similar:
"This is not over," Brown told Baptist Press, referencing the nationwide debate over marriage's definition. "... They had a great election from their perspective, but I hope that what this does is wake folks up and energize folks and people realize that [these losses] were not inevitable, same-sex marriage is not inevitable."

Oh, and also this week, a judge in Utah also said that several women could cohabit with one man without breaking the law. NOM has been trying to convince us all week that this has something to do with gay marriage. When even the Christian Post claims that this is nutty, there a strong probability that it really is nutty.

While National Organization for Marriage can be pretty idiotic, the real fools are the people who give money to these pathetic putzes. What do they have to show for their investment?
