American Family Association encourages truancy

AFA's promotional

According to American Family Association, “If your child's school allows 'Day of Silence', keep your child at home April 11.” That's the advice from an organization designated as a hate group by SPLC. AFA continues:
The Day of Silence, which is sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), fast approaches. This year it will take place in most public schools on April 11. On this day, thousands of public high schools and increasing numbers of middle schools will allow students to remain silent throughout an entire day-even during instructional time-to promote GLSEN's socio-political goals.

Who knew that remaining silent was somehow disruptive to other students. Of course AFA's real problem is that gay students and their allies are asking for understanding and compassion. AFA clearly has no understanding of LGBT students. Their persistent message of hate certainly demonstrates no compassion for an at-risk minority. Gay teens are four times as likely to commit suicide than their straight peers. Groups like AFA contribute to a climate of fear and bigotry.
Parents must actively oppose this hijacking of the classroom for political purposes. […]

If students will be permitted to remain silent, parents can express their opposition most effectively by calling their children out of school on the Day of Silence […]
That makes perfect sense — if one subscribes to the notion that sexual orientation is somehow contagious. Strange how the gay kids never seem to have caught heterosexuality from their presumably straight parents. Keeping children out of school is never appropriate. What are they afraid of? That their child will utilize more critical thinking skills than their ignorant parents?
