"Marching" for dollars

National Organization for Marriage is now at the point where they are in business to raise funds to stay in business. They sent out an email blast this afternoon titled “Why We March.” Brian Brown gets right to the point:
In response to last week’s appeal, over 100 of you donated more than $10,000! Thank you so much to each and every one for your generosity. But we still have a long way to go to reach our goal of $100,000 by the end of the month.

Of course that continues with Brown begging for more money. Inept as NOM is, they remain capable of pissing away money on things like traveling to Russia a few times to help reinforce Putin's agenda or paying Maggie Brown to do nothing. The reason stated is quite different. I will paraphrase:
  1. The Supreme Court made a decision that they did not like and is likely to do so again in the next term.
  2. Nothing is inevitable. We need to keep fighting (which costs money).
  3. Even if the Supreme Court effects national marriage equality, we need to stick around because … Because what?
No amount of money donated to National Organization for Marriage is going to affect the Supreme Court. Brian Brown is incapable of articulating an agenda that justifies NOM's continued existence. How will a limited purpose anti-gay hate group redefine itself once marriage equality across the country becomes a reality? Do any of the board members even care at this point? The reason that they go to Russia and other countries is to create an international organization. Delusions of grandeur.
