More gun nuttery in Florida

What should we expect regarding public policy? After all, we managed to elect a felon governor. A measure that would allow guns to be carried in school by people with “special training” has passed in the Florida House.

The bill (HB 753), sponsored by Sarasota Republican, Greg Steube, was approved by a vote of 71-44.

The proposal gives public and private school principals the option to designate one or several school employees to carry concealed weapons on campus at all times. That “special training” is the same training that’s required of security guards.

According to an NYPD study, highly trained New York City police actually hit their target 34% of the time and most of the time nobody is returning fire. They do a bit better when firing at dogs; They manage to hit canines 55% of the time.

So now, they are talking about people with security guard training shooting at people among school children. Brilliant. Just fucking brilliant.
