NOM skirts the real issue - so what else is new?

Salvatore Cordileone
In a blog post titled “Hypocritical Liberals Try to Shame Archbishop Cordileone,” National Organization for Marriage expresses their usual brand of outrage over a letter. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom signed onto a missive urging Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone (the Church's point man for marriage discrimination) to skip this year's “marriage rally” staged by anti-gay organizations.

NOM's reaction is pretty well summed up by the second-to-last paragraph of their post which reads (in part):
The letter ends with a suggestion that Archbishop Cordileone not speak at the March for Marriage and instead "join us in seeking to promote reconciliation rather than division and hatred."  Ironically, the signers of the letter are the ones promoting division by trying to divide the Catholic Church, which has always and will always teach that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, a Sacrament ordered toward bringing the sexes together to create new life.
NOM never bothers to even address the real problem. Codileone is being criticized for endorsing an event organized and sponsored by NOM and FRC. The letter to Cordileone says that the event is “organized by some of the nation’s most virulently anti-LGBT organizations and leaders, including the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) and the Family Research Council.”
NOM has a long and well-documented history of publishing material that connects homosexuality with pedophilia and incest and falsely suggests that gays and lesbians are trying to “inculcate children.” Likewise, the Family Research Council, which is co-sponsoring the event, has been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center because of their vitriolic rhetoric; recently, a spokesperson for FRC blamed the growing acceptance of marriage for same sex couples for the Isla Vista mass shootings.
NOM no longer wastes bandwidth on defending themselves against charges that they are a virulent anti-gay group. They are. I suspect that NOM is just a hair's width away from being designated a hate group.

Just in passing, I'll bet that in the early part of the 17th century the Church had some schmuck saying that heliocentrism was the work of the devil. “The Catholic Church has taught and always will teach that geocentrism accurately, and scientifically, describes the arrangement of the universe.” Were Robby George around, he would write countless lengthy polemics (along with his student, Ryan Anderson) about the scientific certainty that Earth is the center of the universe — just as God intended.
