Yet another victory for equality in Florida

Now it's three! This time a Broward County (Ft. Lauderdale area) judge has ruled that Florida's ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. This comes on the heels of similar victories over the past few weeks in Monroe County and Miami-Dade County.

Broward Circuit Judge Dale Cohen struck down Florida’s marriage ban in Broward County and ruled the state must recognize the lawful same-sex marriages of other states. The case involves a lesbian, Heather Brassne, who is in a 2002 Vermont civil union that she seeks to dissolve. Florida's same-sex marriage ban prohibits recognition of the relationship and, therefore, is unable to grant her a divorce.
