Barber: Same-sex marriage isn't about equality or civil rights - It's a clash of good vs. evil

Matt Barber

Matt Barber has a piece on Charisma today titled What the Gay Marriage Debate Is Really About. May I digress? I always enjoy Barber's mini-bio at the bottom of every piece that he writes:
Matt Barber is founder and editor-in chief of He is an author, columnist, cultural analyst and an attorney concentrating in constitutional law. Having retired as an undefeated heavyweight professional boxer, Matt has taken his fight from the ring to the culture war.
I don't know why Barber is (supposedly) not on Liberty Counsel's payroll anymore but I do know that he is not a constitutional lawyer. Aside from the fact that he doesn't seem to be licensed to practice law he doesn't seem to have ever so much as filed a brief in federal court (according to Pacer). As for his boxing career, “Bam-Bam” was a club fighter, a couple of levels below Rocky Balboa. He has no record at Barber is not much of a culture warrior either. He is someone who is at the very far right unhinged fringe of conservative Christianity. All you need to know from Barber's verbose 890 word piece (after a considerable drivelectomy) is this (comprised of 68 words):
At its core, this increasingly heated fight over gay marriage is about two diametrically opposed and profoundly incompatible views of reality … Quite simply, the clash over gay marriage is emblematic of the larger, and much older, clash between good and evil.
[ … ]
Mankind can no more redefine marriage to include same-sex parings than can he suspend the laws of gravity.
[ … ]
Here's the good news: God will not be mocked.
We get it Matt. According to your religious views gays and same-sex marriage are evils. In fact (with fingers in ears shouting “na-na-na”) same-sex marriage doesn't really exist. Most people do not concur. Most people are at least marginally sane and realize that the issue is over civil marriage. By the way, Mr. Barber is divorced.
