Once again NOM falsely associates donations with influencing the Supreme Court

National Organization for Marriage
National Organization for Marriage is at it again. In an email to supporters they are asking the faithful to send them money in order that they might have an impact on the Supreme Court which will be deliberating marriage equality in April. It seems a reasonable certainty that no amount of money donated to NOM is going to have the slightest impact on the Court.

NOM has also scheduled another one of their silly “marriage marches” — this one for April 25 in Washington, DC. The last one was pretty pathetic. However, even if they assembled a large demonstration in favor of sustaining marriage discrimination it is a reasonable certainty that this, too, will not have the slightest impact on the Court. How did that work out for them in United States v. Windsor? But some people are gullible I suppose.

Brian Brown is shameless. It appears that they are funneling the funds through NOM Education in order to make contributions tax-deductible. I guess that is legal given that they are trying to influence the legal system in contrast to legislation. Yet what they are really trying to influence is the wallets of would-be donors. You can also bet your sweet posterior that the “matching grant” is from someone or some thing associated with Opus Dei. What is it about a “march” that consumes money anyway:
With the Supreme Court's announcement a few weeks ago that they will be hearing a case this term that could decide the legal definition of marriage in America, we are now on the clock.

We have just a few short months to make our case for marriage before the Court weighs in.

With that in mind, we have scheduled the third annual March for Marriage in Washington, DC on April 25th, 2015.

And I need your help today to make this critically important March a success. Thanks to a generous donor who understands the incredible importance of this year's March, we have a matching grant in the amount of $100,000! That means every dollar you donate today will be matched dollar-for-dollar. And all contributions are deductible for federal income-tax purposes.
