NOM is touting a bus tour again

National Organization for Marriage's Brian Brown has sent out an email signed by Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life. That, of course, means students opposed to choice — until one of them gets knocked up. In point of fact this has absolutely nothing to do with reproductive choice. This is about denying Medicaid funds to Planned Parenthood.

The subject line of the email reads “Can We Put Your Name on Our Bus?” Whose bus? The only name I see on that bus is FRC Action which would be Family Research Council — a certified hate group. Students for Life probably doesn't want its name on the bus because that would jeopardize their status as a 501(c)3. NOM probably doesn't have any money so this seems to be FRC's bus.

So in summary I have an email sent by NOM, signed by Students for Life, touting a bus that seems to belong to FRC. Just your average NOM fuck-up I suppose.

That never made any sense to me. What is the point? To get Planned Parenthood to withdraw from providing abortions? Create a vacuum and it will be filled. I don't know about Ms. Hawkins but Mr. Brown is an ultra-conservative Catholic. If the Church wants to reduce abortions then they should stop shaming people who use birth control. But, hey, that's the Church and that is what they do. They are in the shame business.
