The creepy professor who harrasses Sandy Hook families

James Tracy via FAU
The following is a copy of an email I just received from the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. This creepy crackpot needs to be dealt with. What he is doing is certainly not part of academic freedom:

James Tracy is a tenured professor at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and a leader among conspiracy theorists who claim the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook was a hoax. And despite widespread criticism and controversy of his behavior, FAU is continuing to employ him.

Tracy co-authored an unpublished book entitled "Nobody Died at Sandy Hook" and he has engaged in personal attacks against Sandy Hook parents whose children were murdered in the shooting. On Facebook, he wrote, "The local conspirators in Newtown, such as the alleged parents of the murdered children...have made out very well financially, soliciting contributions from generous yet misinformed Americans, where the families have averaged more than $1,000,000 apiece."1

Click here to tell FAU it's time to part ways with James Tracy.

So far, Florida Atlantic University has failed to respond appropriately to Tracy, “reprimanding” him for his comments, but failing to terminate his employment.2

Tenure is supposed to protect academic freedom, not personal attacks on parents grieving the loss of their murdered children. Furthermore, conspiracy theory is the antithesis of the intellectual rigor that Florida Atlantic University claims to promote on its campus. Sign our petition today and tell FAU President John Kelly to fire James Tracy immediately.
