Santorum: It's the media's fault

Surely Rick Santorum knows that he was not a serious contender for the Republican nomination for president. Right? Cynical me. I thought that this was all about the frothy mixture's speaking fees and maybe selling a book. Campaigns run on money. Who would spend money on Santorum? Other than being rabidly anti-gay, how does one appreciate Santorum?

Perhaps I was wrong.

Sounding like a serious candidate, Santorum unloaded on the liberal media. In a Facebook post, in part:

I need to get this off my chest.

I can’t stand the media.

From the start of this campaign, they’ve decided that we’re not worthy of them. They think it’s their job to anoint who they think should be the Republican nominee. Seriously? The media determining the Republican nominee? Give me a break!

We’ve pushed on and fought tooth and nail for coverage, but yesterday USA Today put the final straw on this camel’s back. Enough with being a “statesman.” We’re fighting back!

They want to FORCE US from the race, but that’s the last thing that will happen because next Monday night at the Iowa Caucus we’re going to FORCE THEM to cover us. We’re going to FORCE THEM to follow us to event after event after event all across America. …
Poor Rick. About the only thing that USA Today did was to quote Santorum that he was thinking about calling it a day. Come to think of it, after reading it again, cynical me prevails. This is just about speaking fees, maybe selling a book, vanity and the Santorum brand.
