Tony Perkins demonstrates - again - a complete lack of class

I received an email Saturday morning from Family Research Council, signed by Tony Perkins, titled: “Family Research Council Celebrates Release of Pastor Saeed Abedini and Americans Imprisoned by Iran.”. Therein Perkins writes (in part):
"Thank God! We celebrate with Naghmeh Abedini on the release of her husband Pastor Saeed Abedini.

"For over three years, millions of Americans and people around the world have made Pastor Abedini a focal point of their prayers and petitions. The news of his release is made even more special because today is January 16th which is commemorated as Religious Freedom Day in the United States.

"We are grateful to the members of Congress on both sides of the aisle who tirelessly advocated for the release of Pastor Abedini. Congress and the American people clearly made the difference in engaging the Obama administration to step up pressure on the Iranian government.
Would it really be too much to thank John Kerry for his tireless efforts and the President of the United States? While they were being criticized for both the policy and their actions regarding Abedini, and others, they were quietly – and successfully – negotiating their release.

Indeed, about all Perkins did was to incessantly use Abedini as a fund raising tool. He also used the imprisoned pastor to suggest that Americans did not enjoy religious freedom. Seriously.  Perkins has been a loud jerk over Abedini and imagined flaws in our foreign policy. Remorse isn't expected (although in polite society it should be). At least Perkins should have the good graces to demonstrate some gratitude if he was really interested in the welfare of the Abedini family.

The ex-Marine and hate group leader with direct ties to the Klan is still provided a platform by certain media outlets. I question their judgment.
