Caitlyn Jenner needs a connection to reality

Ms. Jenner has a new video courtesy of the UK's Daily Mail. She claims that any of the Republican candidates would be better than Hillary Clinton. She claims that Clinton only cares about herself. Jenner has previously endorsed Ted Cruz. She claims that Cruz is not anti-LGBT which is a fantasy.

Clearly Jenner has no understanding or empathy for the plight of the average transgender person who is challenged to find a job and a place to live. Transgender Americans are four times more likely to live in poverty. Transgender people are also far more likely to experience violence.

Caitlyn Jenner has been in a protective bubble from the moment that she transitioned. Economically it appears that Ms. Jenner has thrived from transitioning which is in stark contrast to most transgender people. Ms. Jenner has also enjoyed an enormous network of social support. Again this is not what most transgender people experience when they transition. Ms. Jenner also had the money to make her look good. I cannot begin to imagine what she has spent on surgery.

Were it not for progressive pioneers Ms. Jenner might have faded into obscurity. She is only accepted in polite society because others have worked hard to better educate the public. No one says that Jenner has to be a poster person for transgender issues. However, it would be nice if she had some tether to the reality, perhaps to find some ways to give something back.

Ms. Jenner doesn't seem to be interested in the struggle and the young people who fight, every day, just to stay alive. Her support system doesn't seem to include someone who might explain just how insane it is for a transgender person to support Ted Cruz. Perhaps Ms. Jenner simply doesn't care. Just another shallow celebrity.
