Ever wonder why Ruth Institute is designated a "hate group?"

Jennifer Roback Morse, head of Ruth Institute, likes to go by “Dr. J.” Behind that pretentious warm-fuzziness is a hateful bigot demeans gay citizens on behalf of the Catholic right. Ruth has a new pamphlet for sale ($1.50) which is part of what Morse calls The Ruth Survivor Series.
The impact of same sex parenting on children is among the most contentious issues of our time. Get the full scoop in this fact-filled brochure.
Jennifer Roback Morse
“Fact-filled” means hate-filled. Morse manages to incorrectly characterize the thoroughly discredited research by Mark Regnerus funded by right wing Catholic groups to affect the Supreme Court's deliberations in United States v. Windsor and Hollingsworth v. Perry in 2013. According to Morse:
Compared to children raised by their own biological parents, married to each other, children whose parents had a same sex relationship are at elevated risks for the following:
I will get to “the following” in a moment but Regenrus' subjects were mostly raised by their biological parents. Regnerus boasted of a huge sample: “Instead of relying on small samples, or the challenges of discerning sexual orientation of household residents using census data, my colleagues and I randomly screened over 15,000 Americans aged 18-39.” However, the real sample size was two. Two is the number of people in the sample who were raised by a gay couple. Two.

Having one gay or bisexual or exploratory parent who cheated on his or her spouse is quite different from having two gay parents in an honest relationship. Regnerus' subjects were effectively children of dysfunctional families. But you have read all this before.

Morse is an economist. However she does have a PhD and she does know how to read and she does understand research and she does know what I pointed out in the two paragraphs, above. She does not care. Her intent is for people to infer that research has determined that same-sex parenting is toxic. It is not only bigotry. It is dishonesty. Among other things, Morse is claiming that children raised by gay parents are being forced to have sex against their will:
  • Women: larger number of female sex partners
  • Serious emotional problems
  • Pleading guilty to a non-minor offense
  • Learning disabilities
  • Having an affair while married or cohabiting
  • Family of origin provided less safety and security
  • Difficulty trusting others
  • Identifying as something other than exclusively heterosexual
  • Forced to have sex against their will
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD)
  • Currently unemployed
  • Receiving welfare as a child
  • Not finishing high school
  • Being arrested
  • Being depressed
  • Repeating a grade of school
This happy little pamphlet also includes content from Robert Oscar Lopez' merry little band of crackpots. It is comprised of four or five people who had a crappy gay parent or crappy gay parents. They are angry children of divorce.

The simple fact is that Morse doesn't care that this is all bullshit. She will promote anything that supports the teachings of the Catholic Church.
