Brian Brown - you are full of crap

Brian S. Brown
Brian Brown, head of National Organization for Marriage, sent out a missive this afternoon titled: “It's Working, But We Still Need You To Push For FADA.” The gist of this fundraiser is that NOM's fax spam campaign is making a difference in Congress. It's Christian kabuki. Since July of 2015, the bill has picked up an additional 66 co-sponsors bringing the total to 166 which is still only 38% of the House. In the Senate, since July, 2015, the total has gone from 36 co-sponsors to a whopping 37. According to Mr. Misadventure:
I am getting good reports from Washington, DC that our Fax For FADA campaign is making a big impact. Word is that the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) will be scheduled for a hearing very soon. Our faxes to the House Republican leadership and members of the House Oversight and Government Reform committee are having an impact!
I kind of doubt that since most – the vast majority – of the faxes are spam from out-of-district or out-of-state participants. In addition, this has been stalled in the Senate Judiciary Committee since June, 2015. They are stacked with nominations to consider and if you look at the bills that get through Judiciary they tend to be those with bipartisan support. The reasons are simple. The first is getting a vote to pass the bill. The second in not wasting time and resources on nonsense that President Obama is just going to veto.

So NOM is trying to look like they are vibrating in order to solicit donations. It wouldn't surprise me if some Congress critters made some noise about FADA in the coming months if they think that it might buy them some right wing Christian votes but it is all window dressing. This thing is not going through the Senate and even if it does — it's just going to get vetoed. Oh, and Ted Cruz is most certainly not going to be our next president. Although, he's another one with his hand out today, begging for more money to piss away.

NOM can pound away at House Oversight and Government Reform and Chaffetz might even hold a hearing. Unless Senate Judiciary moves, FADA is KAKA.
