Exorcist: There’s a Demon That Specializes in Attacking the Family

Taking a brief break from writing about the need to protect a few transgender kids, this is what some LGBT oppressors actually believe. I'd wager that Erika Bachiochi (the subject of an earlier post) believes this stuff. Robert P. George and Ryan T. Anderson as well.

According to the National Catholic Register: “There’s a demon that specializes in attacking the family,” said exorcist César Truqui, a priest who participated in a course on exorcism held in Rome last year.

Father Truqui warned that everything that is harming the family, including divorce, pleases the devil. Note that Blowhard Bill Donohue has thus pleased the devil. Who gets to decide what is harmful to the family? Is an LGBT child harmful to the family? Is that the work of some demon who needs to be exorcised? If you blame everything that is bad on the devil then every adherent is blameless. If you think that the ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges harms the family (and they do) then some demon is responsible. Drive out the demon and then … what?

Suppose, on the other hand, that Obergefell was the work of their god. Then he or she concurs with gay activists that marriage equality is a good thing. Who gets to decide what is good and what is evil? How do they aggregate such power? Are not some divorces, for example, good for the family? I do not accept the proposition that people of faith are inherently stupid. Yet surely there are rational limits on these beliefs.
