Franklin Graham found something new to piss him off

Franklin Graham
Franklin Graham is professionally pissed off. He is always expressing anger (often towards LGBT citizens) over something. It is hard for me to knock a guy who has turned feigned rage into a seven figure income but I must. So what is on Graham's devised displeasure plate today? Feminists, of course — with a side order of Muslim bashing.
Where are the Gloria Steinems, the Bella Abzugs, or even the Hillary Clintons, that call themselves champions for women's rights when it comes to the teachings of Islam? Why aren't they screaming about the way Islam treats women? The leader of the powerful Council for Islamic Ideology in Pakistan just this week said a husband should be allowed to "lightly beat" his wife. Oh really? According to them, that is permissible if she defies his commands and refuses to dress up per his desires, does not wear a hijab, interacts with strangers, speaks too loudly, or declines other more personal things. And get this—their proposal says using only a "small stick" is necessary to instill fear. Somehow that's not very comforting is it.
As an aside I bet that Graham hits his children with more than a “small stick” for the Bible tells him so. Those good Christians seem to be fond of beating the shit out of their kids. But I digress. Steinem and Abzug are unlikely to comment on issues abroad. That is understandably not their area of concern. Secretary Clinton, on the other hand has done exactly what Graham says she hasn't. The very right wing Washington Times tells us that “Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton decried the marginalization of women in the Islamic world Tuesday night, calling women’s empowerment key to true democracy in the Middle East.”

Has she responded to this particular incident? Probably not. Unlike Graham she is not scouring the news to find stories to feed an over-sized outrage appetite.

Yes, the Clinton Foundation has accepted large donations from wealthy Saudis and others in the Arab world. Some of that money has gone into empowering women. None of that money has been used to suppress or endorse the suppression of women's rights.
