Just one paragraph from Peter Sprigg sums up the abysmal ignorance

Peter Sprigg - Family Research Council
One of the reasons that Family Research Council is designated as an anti-LGBT hate group is their employment of Peter Sprigg. Sprigg, a Baptist minister presents himself as an LGBT expert. On Wednesday, Sprigg wrote, for FRC's blog, “No ‘Discrimination’ in North Carolina’s Bathroom Protections.” It is a lengthy discourse that mischaracterizes North Carolina's laws. I want to highlight just one paragraph:
Family Research Council believes that “gender identity” should not be a protected category under “non-discrimination” laws at all, because the behavioral choice to cross-dress (unlike, say, race) is not inborn, involuntary, immutable, innocuous, or in the U. S. Constitution.
I scarcely know where to begin. Not in the Constitution? Being transgender is a choice to cross-dress? Not innocuous? Is Sprigg that spectacularly stupid? Just how dense is his audience if they accept this as a work of serious thinking? Just what part of being a theologian qualifies him to authoritatively address issues of social and medical science?

David believes that “religion” should not be a protected category under “non-discrimination” laws at all, because the behavioral choice to worship people and things and elevate them to divine status (unlike, say, race) is not inborn, involuntary, immutable, innocuous, or in the U. S. Constitution. Free Exercise is in the Constitution but they insist on more.

This is the imaginary world that these people construct. It is a place where society conforms to scripture because chronicles that are thousands of years old take precedence over the knowledge that we have amassed since then. Those same texts reveal that the Earth is the center of the universe around which the sun orbits. Those texts sanction a whole lot of violence and rape. They are wrong about so many things yet, when it comes to sexuality, “amen brother.” I do not think that all people of faith are stupid. However, if you take the Bible literally then you are an idiot per se.
