I am not personally fixated on the Catholic Church

Admittedly a disproportionate amount of content on this site is related to the Catholic Church. That says less about me (or us) than the fact that no organization is more organized on a larger scale to frustrate LGBT rights than the Catholic Church. It is abundantly clear that the bishops are determined to punish any school employee who enters into a same-sex marriage. In many ways, Obergefell v. Hodges was really Obergefell v. US Conference of Catholic Bishops. Revenge? It is certainly possible.

There are 6,500 Catholic elementary and secondary schools in the United States. Those schools serve nearly two million students. As of 2012 they employed 151,395 people. 96.7% of those were lay staff. 7,000 of those people are possibly gay. It's a great deal of exposure.
