As chairman of National Organization for Marriage, John Eastman has been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by the organization. Aside from the obvious conflict of interest I don't think that Eastman has won a single case on NOM's behalf. The best example was NOM's preposterous suit against the Internal Revenue Service.
According to court records NOM spent over $690,000 in legal fees. They lost the case which meant that the IRS did not have to reimburse any of the legal fees. The Service paid NOM $50,000 for the inadvertent error of sending out a copy of their tax return with the donor schedule redacted.
I remember the hyperbolic press releases when NOM first pursued the case. They were going to depose everyone in order to prove that the IRS intentionally harmed them. If I recall correctly it was a conspiracy between the IRS, the Human Rights Campaign and President Obama. NOM was going to show the world. Eastman even deposed Fred Karger personally as if Fred would know anything relevant. Meanwhile Eastman's meter was running.
The way Brian S. Brown describes it, you would think that Eastman was Louis Brandeis and you would think that this amicus brief is the document that the Court will consider. NOM will save Western Civilization:
As you know from my email from earlier in the week, NOM is working on a critical legal brief to challenge President Obama's authority to decree that men can be women, and women can be men, by claiming a "gender identity" that is opposite to their actual biological sex. Obama is attempting to impose this dangerous ideology on children in our public schools and we are determined to stop him.Why would anyone fund NOM (which basically hasn't met a single objective in its life span)?
I just spoke with Dr. John Eastman, NOM's chairman and one of the nation's top constitutional lawyers, about the brief. He tells me that it will be a powerful refutation of this insane gender policy that President Obama seeks to impose on our schools and throughout society.
NOM's legal brief will urge the US Supreme Court to take this case so that it can rule against President Obama and put an end to his attempt to redefine gender. After all the money he's raked in, maybe Eastman should do this one pro bono.
But in order to complete our brief and file it with the US Supreme Court, we need to raise $12,000 in the next week. Can you help us with an emergency financial contribution?
