Richard N. Williams at Brigham Young University has a PhD in psychological sciences. I am going to guess that the Mayer/McHugh paper comports with his religious beliefs, presumably as a Mormon. I am not going to link to his article at Witherspoon's blog. Nor am I going to to discuss it at length. I don't want to bring any more attention to this BS.
Williams knows that a literature review not subjected to peer review is a likely candidate for selective observation. He also knows that the conclusions are at odds with a mountain of peer reviewed research published in respected scholarly journals. A disinterested scientist is obligated to be a skeptic until the paper is proved otherwise. As I said, he embraces this nonsense because it is what he wants to hear for religious reasons.
