"You know my new president says we can kill all you faggots now"

Sadness - Crying tears of blood
Allegedly that is what an assailant told a 75-year-old gay man as he was dragged from his parked car in Sarasota, Florida. Chuck Redding claims that he was stalked by a motorist who followed him home. Apparently he was targeted because of some LGBT bumper stickers.

Redding realized that something was wrong. He parked in front of his neighbor's home. The man who was following him walked over to Redding's vehicle, opened the door and dragged him out. Redding suffered a number of lacerations and bruises.

Redding says the suspect was an Hispanic man with a beard, driving a dark colored Jeep Cherokee. He tried to run after the SUV, but it sped off  backwards down the street so he couldn't catch a license plate number.

There are some holes in this story which does not mean that it is not true. The first thing I would do is lock my vehicle and call 911. However, under duress, people don't necessarily make the best decisions and he might not have had a phone in the vehicle. Redding might have thought that the door was locked.

Redding says that he and some friends have applied for concealed carry permits. The primary qualifiers in Florida are not to have a criminal record and be able to demonstrate proficiency with a firearm. No reason for concealed carry is required. Just what we need; Florida turned into Westworld (although we already  have a high volume of gun injuries and gun fatalities).

Assuming that this is true (it probably is) Trump needs to do more than say “stop it.” Trump needs to renounce violence, racism and homophobia which, apparently, he is unwilling to do. Zack Ford has a good piece today regarding Trump's rather tepid response to right wing attacks and harassment.
