Washington AG statement on Barronelle Stutzman

Bob Ferguson
Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson is a true believer. He is wed to the simple notion that Washington's nondiscrimination ordinance should be properly enforced. This law did not materialize out of thin air. It started as a measure that was passed by the elected representatives of the citizens. It was then signed into law by the elected governor of the state.

Ferguson's monthly newsletter, received last night, covers a number of matters that his office is handling. Among those is the case of Barronelle Stutzman, owner of Arlene's Flowers and Gifts. The AG explains:

Hate group leader Tony Perkins can scam with the best of them

Tony Perkins (Family Research Council) is full of crap. According to a money-grubber email he has a “matching grant” up to $250,000. So-called matching grants do not exist. They are just restructured donations that are not contingent upon any other fund raising. Family Research Council is a designated hate group. It stands to reason because no reputable charity will commit what amounts to fraud to fill the till.

Brian S. Brown's grift continues with "All Hands on Deck"

National Organization for Marriage promises that donations will be matched. Reputable organizations do not raise funds with fictitious “matching donor” campaigns. Invariably these are merely restructured contributions that are not really contingent on others and may have already been received. The donor may not even be aware of the arrangement. It is a scam. It seems that someone is always supposedly matching contributions to NOM.

Todd Starnes disapproves of the trans boy who wants to be a Cub Scout

Todd Starnes
8-year-old Joe Maldonado is a boy. Joe is transgender. Joe has been attending school as a boy for over a year.

About a month after joining Cub Scout Pack 87 in Secaucus, New Jersey Joe's mother, Kristie Maldonado was contacted by a scouting official who informed her that Joe was ineligible because it is only for boys. Mrs. Maldonado tried to explain that her son is a boy but the guy was cocky and arrogant. He simply refused to even listen to what she was trying to explain.

Not a whole lot to brag about for Mat Staver in 2016

Kim Davis and Mat Staver
Hate group leader Mat Staver sent out his year end gimme while citing his newsletter outlining the “achievements” of Liberty Counsel in 2016. This goes on for over 1,800 words and counts two courtroom wins — one of which is actually a loss. The rest of it is “filed this brief, represented this group, gave this testimony, provided legal counsel” and so on.

Among the legal victories:
Won a major case involving Child Evangelism Fellowship in Ohio after three-year lawsuit against the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
At issue was whether or not the “Good News Club” was entitled to a fee waiver for using after-school facilities. Monumental I am certain.

Trump is going to make this preacher-grifter even wealthier

Paula White
Preacher Paula White is already wealthy. She owns a home in the Orlando area  where her New Destiny Christian Center is located. She also owns a cooperative apartment on Manhattan's chic Park Avenue. White is on her third marriage and she is Donald Trump's favorite preacher. Like Trump, White is also an accomplished con artist. She will be praying with Trump at his inauguration. Donald Trump and Paula White were seemingly made for each other.

Catholic anti-gay smear - Gay men are child molesters

The image from Angelo Stagnaro's bigoted polemic
The image from Angelo Stagnaro's bigoted polemic
Angelo Stagnaro bills himself as a professional magician. Stagnaro is principally a professional Catholic. In Wednesday's National Catholic Register, Stagnaro writes: “In Pursuit of Innocence.” It is a smear; a treatise on the supposed predatory predilection for young boys by gay men.

We can comfortably presume that the reason for the smear is that the Catholic Church does not approve of gay people. The Church and Stagnaro presuppose that gays are “objectively disordered” (per Catholic teaching). From there it is a short leap for Stagnaro to characterize gays as child molesting perverts.

Looking at workplace harassment

The courts may be less relevant
than societal principles.

Several lawsuits are moving through the courts. The first of these is EEOC v. Rocky Mountain Casing Co. which was filed on December 22. Michael Allyn, a driver for Rocky Mountain in Williston North Dakota, alleges that he was the recipient of offensive homophobic slurs from his supervisor and coworkers. The EEOC argues on his behalf that discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is sex discrimination which is impermissible under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

In November a federal district court judge in Pittsburgh ruled that sexual orientation discrimination does constitute discrimination on the basis of sex.

Mat Staver: "Merry Fucking Christmas"

Mat Staver
Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel chose December 26 to spout some anti-LGBT bigotry demonstrating, yet again, why the organization is designated a hate group. At issue is a frivolous lawsuit filed by Texas AG (and certifiable whack job) Ken Paxton  and the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. They are attempting to overturn Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act which bars discrimination by health insurance companies and medial practitioners accepting federal funds.

At the core of their argument is the idea that all doctors are compelled to perform sex affirming surgery or provide hormone therapy upon request even if they have a religious or professional objection to doing so. Does that include my urologist? Podiatrist? It is an absurd argument because the only people qualified to treat people with gender dysphoria are specialists who are trained to do so. Obviously they have no objections. According to Moronic Mat:

Seasons greetings Mr. Wildmon

Tim Wildmon
Hate group leader Tim Wildmon of American Family Association contributed a piece to his local newspaper titled Hope Springs Eternal. It invites commentary through email. I thought that I would oblige:

LifeSite + ACPeds = Displeasure with National Geographic

Avery Jackson on the cover of National Geographic
LifeSiteNews, the orthodox Catholic website, informs us on Friday that: “Pediatricians condemn National Geographic over 9-year-old ‘trans’ child on January cover.” Those pediatricians would be the American College of Pediatrics, a tiny splinter organization that is designated a Hate Group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Michelle Cretella, MD, president of the American College of Pediatricians, told LifeSiteNews that National Geographic is “promoting a political agenda over science and the wellbeing of innocent children” by featuring a young transgender child.

Drumgoole v. Archdiocese of Newark

Kate Drumgoole (right) with her wife  Jaclyn Vanore
Readers may recall that Kate Drumgoole, Dean of Guidance and girls' basketball coach at Paramus Catholic High School was terminated about a year ago when it was discovered that she married another woman. The trial judge has denied two motions to dismiss by the archdiocese and a New Jersey appeals court denied an appeal of the most recent motion so this is probably headed to a trial. Drumgoole has probably requested a jury trial.

I overlooked something. In September President James Vail and Principal Stephanie Macaluso were both placed on leave by the archdiocese. The archdiocese refused to comment. Both have since been reinstated.

Dear Glenn Stanton: Human sexuality is no less complicated than plasma physics

Glenn T. Stanton
The annoying obsession with where transgender people can pee continues.

Thursday, Focus on the Family's Glenn T. Stanton writes: “There Is No Conservative Case For Genderless Bathrooms.” The subtitle of his polemic reads: “These new bathroom policies, besides increasing government regulations, also require that every woman and girl get used to having men invade.” Stanton presumes to be a sexuality prodigy.

HB2 deal collapses - McCrory says that the Left is to blame

Incoming North Carolina governor Roy Cooper had brokered a deal; Charlotte would repeal its nondiscrimination ordinance and the North Carolina legislature would repeal its bigoted HB2.

HB2 prohibits transgender people from using bathrooms in government buildings consistent with their gender. In that regard it is aimed primarily at public schools. It also prohibits political sub-divisions from providing nondiscrimination protections to LGBT people. HB2 has cost, and will cost, the state tens of millions of dollars in revenues as businesses pull out of the state, refusing to enable bigotry.

Thank God for Trump by thanking FRC with a donation

Tony Perkins
Thursday, hate group leader Tony Perkins has outdone himself for shameless money grubbing. According to Perkins God gave America a “reprieve.” What it all boils down to is that God is responsible for the things that Perkins likes and is punishing us for the things that Perkins doesn't like. So who needs the deity if Perkins is the arbiter of good and evil?

NOM claims to be "fighting for the restoration of marriage"

According to hate group leader Brian S. Brown in an email Wednesday: “Help — we're behind.” Yes, National Organization for Marriage is behind when it comes to progress, education, paying their bills, social science and a hist of things too numerous to mention.
David — NOM urgently needs to raise $20,000 this week to have a reasonable chance of meeting the $100,000 year-end matching opportunity made available by a group of generous donors. Unfortunately, we are nowhere close to our goal, and I really need your help.

UK hate group and the transgender agenda

Christian Institute
Imagine, if you will, the hate group that would be formed by the merger of Family Research Council with Liberty Counsel — and then move it to the United Kingdom. What you end up with is The Christian Institute. It writes polemics on the web without attribution to a carbon life form. It is remarkably witless. Tuesday's intellectually mediocre offering is: “Transgender Agenda Forcing Kids Down Dangerous Road.”

Would the person who is curating this trans-agenda please contact me? I want to make sure that I am always up to speed with new developments. I will await your email with great anticipation.

With the repeal of HB2 North Carolina's religious yahoos are STILL in charge

Welcome to North Carolina
The repeal of North Carolina's hateful HB2 has made some things better and possibly made some things worse. The predicate for repeal of HB2 was for Charlotte to repeal its comprehensive nondiscrimination ordinance.

Therefore, North Carolina conforms to the rest of the Bible Belt. The state prohibits LGBT discrimination in public employment. The rather tepid municipal ordinances that were preempted by HB2 are now, at least in theory, restored.

AFA on National Geographic - "Advocates for sexual deviancy"

National Geographic on gender
Tuesday, American Family Association has met my expectations for batshittery over a transgender girl on the cover of National Geographic. The hate group's leader, Tim Wildmon, has sent out an email to supporters titled: “National Geographic exploits children to further an agenda.”
Last week, National Geographic announced their January edition would feature a nine year old boy who wants to be perceived as a girl. The magazine’s editor wrote, “She has lived as an openly transgender girl since age 5, and she captured the complexity of the conversation around gender. Today, we're not only talking about gender roles for boys and girls—we're talking about our evolving understanding of people on the gender spectrum.”

Brian S. Brown's needs are a tad more modest

Brian S. Brown
Earlier I wrote that Tony Perkins needs close to $1 million by year's end. However, Brian S. Brown, writing on behalf of National Organization for Marriage, is only looking for $20,000 this week:
We have less than two weeks left to take advantage of the $100,000 year-end matching opportunity made available by a group of generous donors, and we are very far behind. Thus far, we have only raised $57,093, leaving us $43,000 short of our goal.

Hate group leader needs $1 million by year's end

Tony Perkins
Monday, according to Tony Perkins, leader of Family Research Council, only donations to FRC can stave off the LGBT agenda. It seems that Perkins and SPLC's list of hate groups are destined to be close companions well into the future.

In an email to supporters:
The radical Left won't accept the future for which Americans voted.

But they will subvert that future, unless . . .

. . . unless Christians like you stay engaged in the political process.
In spite of the loss in the popular voted and the GOP's loss of seats in both houses of Congress, Perkins wants to convince everyone that Trump has some sort of mandate.

BREAKING: North Carolina's HB2 poised to become history

Incoming North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said Monday that a deal has been reached in which state lawmakers will fully repeal the state’s now-infamous anti-LGBT law. Details to follow as I get them. Apparently even the Christianist GOPers (who have a commanding majority in the legislature) appreciate just how damaging HB2 has been to the state's reputation and tax base.

Transgender girl graces the cover of National Geographic

Avery Jackson
National Geographic has done an expansive exploration of gender and how it affects children. They interviewed nine-year olds all over the world about the role of gender in their lives. One of those is Avery Jackson:
Avery Jackson swipes a rainbow-streaked wisp of hair from her eyes and considers the question. “Everything about being a girl is good!”

What’s the worst thing about being a girl?

“How boys always say, ‘That stuff isn’t girl stuff—it’s boy stuff.’ Like when I first did parkour,” an obstacle-course sport.

Trump thanks a hate monger for his invaluable support

Franklin Graham
On Saturday Donald Trump addressed a rally in Mobile, Alabama. Trump offered effusive praise for one of the other speakers, Franklin Graham.

Nicolosi in a nutshell

Joseph Nicolosi
Monday, Psychotherapist Joseph Nicolosi writes: “The Traumatic Foundation of Male Homosexuality” for the orthodox Catholic outlet, Crisis Magazine. Nicolosi is a past president of NARTH and clinical director of the aptly named Thomas Aquinas Psychological Clinic. The name not only exposes the fact that Nicolosi is a faith healer but also his commitment to 13th century thinking as a Defender of the Faith™. Indeed, Nicolosi's own professional organization has thoroughly rebuked him and his methods.

In their admonition the APA points out that there are no studies of adequate scientific rigor to support any of Nicolosi's claims. Yet he persists without offering evidence of efficacy. He is a quack.

Who is more disingenuous - The bishops or their friendly ADF lawyer?

A 30 second Gish Gallup from ADF's Kellie Fiedorek

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has teamed up with Kellie Fiedorek of Alliance Defending Freedom to advocate for a religious exemption to nondiscrimination laws. It would constitute a special right that would render the laws entirely unenforceable. So who is more full of crap — the bishops or Fiedorek?

"Truth and Love?" - Superstition and hate is more like it

The Courage Apostolate is organizing an event concerning “a pastoral approach to sexual identity.” The event is titled: “Truth and Love” and, according to organizers, it  “will communicate the Church’s full perspective about the human person, in this context.”

It is not the faith that troubles me. Religion is able to convince some very smart people to keep kosher, obeying the Jewish dietary laws. Mark Oppenheimer (now with the LA Times) is a good example. People do that as part of their commitment to God. I don't happen to agree with them. I relegate it to pointless superstition but at least their religion is not attempting to obtain compliance through pseudoscience, fear and shame. Were the Church to take the straight faith approach I would have no quarrel. At least then, parents are not deliberately misinformed about their gay children who, they are told, are “objectively disordered.”

Eureka - Yet another Christian declaration

Holier than thou
In 2009 we had the Manhattan Declaration. This past Tuesday, it was the Capetown Declaration . Now, under the guise of Religious Freedom© we have Preserve Freedom, Reject Coercion via the Colson Center. All three of these things say pretty much the same thing and are signed by pretty much the same people; Robert George, Ryan Anderson, Franklin Graham and so on.

I am all for preserving freedom — the freedom to be who we are; the freedom to be free of discrimination; the freedom to have the Establishment Clause mean precisely what it says. I also believe that we should reject coercion. In particular I reject the coercion of conservative Christians to be slaves to ancient chronicles of dubious provenance and who seek to impose their theology on everyone else through public policy. Needless to say, that is not exactly what these theocrats have in mind:

Now the claim is that trans people are child molesters

Denise Shick
Denise Shick writes: “Just Because Your Transgender Parent Isn’t Messing With You Doesn’t Mean It Doesn’t Happen.” Just in case you do not get it, the subtitle reads: “Perhaps Elle’s transgender father never fondled her because he desired to have a body like hers. I pray she had—and always will have—a loving and respectful home life. I didn’t.” The Federalist is desperately in need of editors.

Elle is 13-year-old with a transgender father who wrote a piece that ended up in the Huffington Post that is critical of Ms. Shick. Apparently Ms. Shick is incapable of handling criticism. One way certain to make yourself look like a deranged crackpot is to suggest that someone's father is predisposed to being a child molester. Transgender people seem to be viewing anti-gay reruns from 30 years ago with a slight edit to the material.

Appeals Court Denies Archdiocese's Attempt to Dismiss Drumgoole Discrimination Suit

Kate Drumgoole (right) with her wife  Jaclyn Vanore
It has been almost a year now since Kate Drumgoole was terminated. Drumgoole had been the dean of guidance and girls' basketball coach at Paramus Catholic High School until the archdiocese learned that she was married to another woman. Apparently that interfered with her ability to help kids get into the college of their choice or, for that matter, to coach a full court press. Drumgoole had been in the employ of the school for over eleven years and it was her alma mater.

Doug Mainwaring - the miserable fag might also be gender dysphoric

Doug Mainwaring testifying against marriage equality
Doug Mainwaring, you probably recall, is the Tea Party guy who allowed himself to be schlepped from venue to venue by National Organization for Marriage as “the gay man who is opposed to gay marriage.” Mainwaring, a conservative Catholic and not very bright, made a public show of “leaving the homosexual lifestyle” to resume living with his wife for the benefit of the kids. I suppose that he deserves some measure of credit for not claiming to have prayed away the gay although I couldn't care less about where his penis has, or has not, been. Yes, yes, I am assuming that he still has the appendage. I decided to spare you all by erasing the rest of this paragraph.

Public accommodations P.R.A.T.T.

Michael Hausam
PRATT=Point Refuted A Thousand Times (often seen in debates regarding creationism and other pseudo-sciences).

Michael Hausam writes at The Federalist: “All Of A Sudden It’s No Longer Bigoted For Businesses To Refuse Service.” The subtitle to this wizardry reads: “My new position is simple: if a client doesn’t have the identical ideological, political, religious, and social views as I do, I’m going to refuse to do business with them.”

I have no idea whatsoever who Michael Hausam is (he claims to have some sort of radio show). He goes on to write:

LifesiteNews polemicist confuses gender identity with sexual orientation

Father Mark Hodges
Wednesday we learn from LifeSiteNews: “Largest transgender survey ever in U.S. reveals high rates of sexual assault, suicide, HIV, prostitution.” The purpose for this exercise is ant attempt to influence people (including parents) that they (or their children) should choose not to be transgender. Were life only that simple

Father Mark Hodges believes that he is “cool” (check out the photo). Hodges also thinks that he is pretty smart. He may be but if someone is going to write about human sexuality (one of Hodges' hobbies) then he should know the difference between sexual orientation and sexual identity.

In bizarre LifeSite piece LaBarbera manages to quote someone who might be crazier than he is

Peter LaBarbera
LifeSiteNews goes to the well with “Trump’s new Secretary of State pushed for open homosexuality in the Boy Scouts.” The piece is written by “Porno Pete” Peter LaBarbera. I am not in the habit of writing about LaBarbera. I am more interested in the fact that LifeSiteNews is providing him with a forum.
Rex Tillerson, pushed as former Boy Scouts of America national president for the Scouts to accept openly homosexual boy members—a capitulation that led millions of Americans to abandon or question their support of the youth organization.

The BSA’s embrace of homosexuality was viewed by social conservatives as contradicting the organization’s historic Scout Oath for boys to be “morally straight” and “do my duty to God,” and honor the Scout Law to be “reverent.”

Brian Brown frames anti-gay declaration as a concordant with civil rights

Brian S. Brown
Hate group leader Brian S. Brown is in South Africa in an effort to marginalize gays and their marriages. The vehicle for denigration is the Capetown Declaration which has remarkable similarities to the catechism of the Catholic Church and Robert George's much longer Manhattan Declaration. According to Brian Brown, on behalf of National Organization for Marriage:
I’m writing today from Cape Town, South Africa where we convened a large coalition of allies across the globe to stand for the truth of marriage by launching the Cape Town Declaration which affirms the truth about marriage and to promote and defend the sanctity of society’s most fundamental and essential unit, the marriage-based family.

NJ Assembly Speaker condemns state support of AFA

NJ Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto
The New Jersey Employees Charitable Campaign facilitates charitable giving by state employees through payroll deductions. It is administered at taxpayers' expense. New Jersey is another state that defers to an organization known as Neighbor To Nation to accredit eligible charities. One of those accredited charities is American Family Association. AFA is designated a hate group by Southern Poverty Law Center.

Having brought the matter to the attention of the legislature, Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto said:

Judge orders Christian streaming service to stop stealing content

VidAngel
What a shock. VidAngel, based in Utah, is (or was) a streaming video service that filters out the stuff that Christians don't like such as obscenities, violence and so much as a hint nudity. The profoundly boring content is then deemed suitable for viewing.

Several Hollywood studios including Disney persuaded a judge to issue an injunction prohibiting VidAngel from streaming films for which it has not obtained a license.

ADF voluntarily dismisses anti-trans case

Alliance Defending Freedom
Alliance Defending Freedom apparently realized that they were in trouble in a Massachusetts case (see voluntary dismissal below). On behalf of some Christian groups ADF was suing the Commonwealth. At issue was the state's nondiscrimination law protecting gender identity which prohibits discrimination in public accommodations.

What got them worked up was this statement on the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MACD) webiste:

Rex Tillerson is the least homophobic and the least likely to be confirmed of Trump's appointments

Rex Tillerson
Photo: Dallas Morning News
It is official. On Tuesday Donald Trump picked Rex Tillerson, CEO of Exxon Mobil to be our next secretary of state. Tony Perkins, leader of the hate group, Family Research Council, was “alarmed” on Monday at the prospect of Tillerson being tapped for the job. According to Perkins:
To hear that Donald Trump may be appointing a man who not only led the charge to open the Boy Scouts to gay troop leaders but whose company directly gives to Planned Parenthood is upsetting at best. FRC knows Tillerson all too well, having worked for years to put the brakes on his reckless agenda for a scouting organization that was already dealing with staggering numbers of sexual abuse cases. Unfortunately, the BSA, under Tillerson, ultimately caved to the pressure of the far-Left, irreparably splitting the Scouts and destroying a proud and honorable American tradition. Under his chairmanship, ExxonMobil's score on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate "Equality" Index has also skyrocketed to 87 percent.

New York poised to investigate eligibility of hate group to participate in workplace giving program

Sen. Brad Hoylman
If State Senator Brad Hoylman has his way, New York may very well join Connecticut in reviewing how American Family Association — a certified hate group — is participating in the New York State Employees Federated Appeal. According to Hoylman:
It’s outrageous that a hate organization with a virulent anti-LGBT agenda like the American Family Association would be offered as a charity by the New York State Employees Federated Appeal. AFA’s mission is to combat what it calls “the homosexual agenda” and the organization equates LGBT people with pedophiles who threaten the very existence of society, not to mention its support for the bogus science of sexual orientation change efforts. The State of New York should not be doing business with an organization the Southern Poverty Law Center has deemed an “extremist group.” The American Family Association should immediately be pulled from the list of charities and a full review conducted of all the organizations offered by SEFA.

Defending marriage discrimination fares no better in Australia than it did in the U.S.

John Skinner
Australian, John Skinner informs us of “The 'NO' case for 'Marriage Equality'.” Opponents to marriage equality in Australia remind us of the inane arguments that were once posed here by religious fundamentalists and the Catholic Church. According to Skinner same-sex marriage has dire consequences. It is Maggie Gallgher circa 2008.
I don't believe in same-sex marriage nor do I believe there are no consequences for those who go down this 'road' but I often feel I'm out there on my own, 'swimming against the tide.'

Those pushing the debate for 'marriage equality' assume the change is a self-evident good and we should all be on board. I wonder how many Australians have just assumed same-sex marriage has no consequences and haven't heard the case against the issue.

In defending Roy Moore hate group leader says that Obergefell doesn't count

Eugene Delgaudio
In a press release, hate group leader Eugene Delgaudio (Public Advocate of the United States) claims: “Anti-God Zealots Shocked by Public Advocate's Amicus Brief Defending Alabama Hero Chief Judge Roy Moore.” Presumably I am one of these zealots. Delgaudio and his third-rate lawyers filed a brief that makes no sense whatsoever. Rather than shocked it is about what I expected.

Among the claims in the amicus brief is this:

Whacked out rabbi calls us "deviants"

Israel's crazies are similar in many respects to our American crazies. The rhetoric is the same while the brand of faith differs.

Rabbi Zvi Yisrael Tau is a senior-level Nationalist Haredi rabbi. The Haredi are ultra-orthodox Jews living somewhere in the 14th century CE. The rabbi harshly criticized the LGBT community and the proposal to integrate women into the IDF Armored Corps combat service. According to the rabbi, the state is becoming a military junta and the rabbis are remaining silent because they are afraid. I am writing about this today because it has an oh-so-familiar feel to it.

The prospective presidency of a consummate con artist

Donald Trump
Donald J. Trump is an accomplished and skillful con artist; scammer if you prefer. He has scammed, schemed and lied his way into the presidency. His propensity to be a pathological liar* is easy to document. To cope with Trump we need to understand the pathology. Scammers like Trump do not scam out of greed. Scammers are very sick people. They (and Trump) are sociopaths who get off on getting over on other people. They are utterly devoid of empathy. The Art of the Steal has touched the lives of countless people.

Hate group juggles DBAs - UPDATED

Hate group leader Brian S. Brown (World Congress of Families) tells us “We've got big news.” Apparently that is the creation of something called International Organization of Families (IOF) which is just another DBA of the Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society. World Congress of Families will now be a “project” of IOF. This might be a precursor to Howard Center acquiring the assets of the insolvent National Organization for Marriage. So the “big news” is: Same hate by the same people and the same EIN with another name.

Austin Ruse sees vast gay civil service conspiracy

Austin Ruse
The Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 prohibits discrimination against federal employees for conduct that is not adverse to their job performance. While that provides some protection for LGBT civil servants what constitutes adverse conduct is subject to interpretation. Austin Ruse seems to think that it is necessary to discriminate against LGBT civil servants for government bureaus to function properly and that gay employees need to be restrained in their efforts to effect workplace equality.

NOM causes Maine ethics panel to recommend new disclosure rules for out-of-state donors

Quoting Christopher Cousins at Bangor Daily News:
The Maine Ethics Commission voted 5-0 in favor of a proposal that would require groups that donate more than $100,000 to a campaign in Maine to disclose information about themselves, including what kind of organization they are and their top five donors. The new legislation would apply to out-of-state organizations that contribute to Maine political action committees, party committees and ballot question committees.

Glenn Stanton outdoes himself for misrepresenting research - with some help from a friend

Glenn Stanton
Glenn Stanton wants to deteriorate confidence in a 2014 study which demonstrates that sexual minorities living in prejudiced communities have shorter lifespans. Let's just say that Stanton, a spokesman for Focus on the Family, is a frequent vendor of LGBT bigotry which gives him a personal stake in this matter.

I hope that you, the reader, will bear with me.  This piece quotes some dry research. Even the email I received from a scientist (which is quoted) is a tad tedious. However, that is how it should be because true scientists have no vested interest in the outcome of research. They are not cheering it on with glorious adjectives. It is the research itself that is important to them.

AFA has decided that they don't like a popular kids' magazine

Highlights for Children
Hate group leader, Tim Wildmon, has a new target for his invective on behalf of American Family Association. The inclusion of gay people in Highlights Magazine for children has Wildmon apoplectic. In an email to supporters titled: “Popular Kids Magazine has Caved to the LGBTQ.”
Highlights, the nationally recognized magazine for kids, has decided to include same-sex families in their magazines. Babies and preschoolers will soon be introduced to homosexuality in the Highlights line of magazines. Sadly, children's publications are no longer off limits, even those designed specifically for toddlers and elementary age children.
Same old nonsense although I did not know that babies read magazines. Does Wildmon believe that homosexuality is contagious? Perhaps an acquired taste?

Witherspoon blog publishes anti-trans piece by the fabricating "Baghdad Diarist"

Muscular transgender man
Yes, this man is transgender
I do not want to waste time or keystrokes on the Scott Thomas Beauchamp controversy. He is a former army private who filed stories with the New Republic from Iraq that turned out to be fabricated. You can read about the saga here.

The same Scott Beauchamp is apparently the author of this polemic at the (ultra orthodox Catholic) Witherspoon Institute's blog. The piece is titled: “Parallel Societies: How the American Military and Civilian Worlds Parted Ways.” It is not a very good piece. I find it to be rambling and inconsistent. The first 60% or so leads up to:
Is Trans the New Black?

Robert George - What injustice have you suffered from same-sex marriage?

Robert P. George
Princeton Professor Robert P. George has authored a polemic at Billy Graham Evangelistic Association about his agenda for a Supreme Court with justices appointed by Donald Trump. George is seeking reversals of Roe v. Wade (abortion) and Obergefell v. Hodges (same-sex marriage). On marriage he writes:
