Because, after all, contractors cannot possibly do what they are paid to do unless they are free to discriminate. How could we possibly think otherwise? I like the way that Staver just had to put that last sentence in bold print. The White House stated today that President Donald Trump will continue to enforce Obama's bad executive order imposing the LGBTQ agenda on federal contractors. There is no federal employment statute that includes "sexual orientation" or "gender identity." Congress has repeatedly rejected efforts to amend federal employment law to include "sexual orientation" or "gender identity." The order, signed by former President Obama in 2014, imposes the LGBTQ agenda in the employment context for federal contractors.
The White House press release from his press secretary's office stated, in part: "President Donald J. Trump is determined to protect the rights of all Americans, including the LGBTQ community. President Trump continues to be respectful and supportive of LGBTQ rights, just as he was throughout the election."
Trump could turn around tomorrow and do something dreadful. Moreover, I do not believe that Trump is, or ever has been, “respectful and supportive of LGBTQ rights.” Neveretheless, pissing off Mat Staver is one of my not-so-guilty pleasures.
