Pittman decided to respond people who are critical of the marriage bill on Facebook:
And if Hitler had won, should the world just get over it?Presumably Mr. Pittman refers to our civil war as “The Northern War of Aggression.”
Lincoln was the same sort if [sic] tyrant, and personally responsible for the deaths of over 800,000 Americans in a war that was unnecessary and unconstitutional.
Pittman claims to be a pastor. Apparently a family member (wife or daughter) is on his North Carolina House payroll as his legislative assistant. I find it astonishing that someone so ignorant of US constitutional law would deem Abraham Lincoln's actions unconstitutional.
I emailed Pittman (and his partners in crime as well) asking him if he was aware of the underlying Supreme Court cases that made his bill DOA. The two cases are Cooper v. Aaron and Marbury v. Madison. Pittman never responded. I thought about another email as well — which I am sure is a waste of time. Were that not the case I would love to get a straight answer to a simple question: What harm has come to you, or anyone else, as a result of same-sex marriage?
