Tim Wildmon, M.D.

Tim Wildmon
With no proof whatsoever — on faith alone — religious fundamentalists expect everyone to live in fear of an omniscient deity. Sometimes they claim to converse with their god. We'll just have to take their word for that. Their standard for psychiatry is similar. They expect to be believed over clinicians with many years of study and training. Being a conservative Christian qualifies someone to practice medicine without a license.

Fox News has a piece on Friday with the title: “Planned Parenthood: Teach your preschoolers 'their genitals don’t determine their gender'.” The sheer glee that must have been associated with this story defies description. They can simultaneously smear transgender people and Planned Parenthood.

The story is the usual rubbish from one of Fox's dimwitted writers who remains unidentified. Whoever wrote this libretto to Mystery Science Theater decided that hate group leader Tim Wildmon is a good source of wisdom on medicine. That's right, Don's idiot son gets a turn at playing Yoda. To hear Wildmon tell it, he knows as much as any psychiatrist:
“Gender is not fluid, either you have a penis or you don’t,” said Tim Wildmon, president of American Family Association, a Mississippi-based group that promotes conservative values. “What Planned Parenthood is promoting here is just stupidity masked as sensitivity. If you’re an adult and trying to talk to a child about whether they’re really a boy or girl, you’re at risk of harming them psychologically.”
Actually, their claims about the presence of fluidity is the basis for a different moronic argument about gender identity. It must be terrible to be baffled by your own bullshit.

Furthermore, do we really want to discuss Tim Wildmon's shriveled penis? The very idea that he might actually have a penis is enough to make me transgender. Note the reference to psychological harm. This schmuck tells little children that his god will punish them for their mischief and he deems himself to be qualified in matters relating to brain function? And just who is this paragon of mental hygiene? He's the guy who has the temerity to describe Target Stores as “pro-perversion” because he doesn't approve of their restroom and changing room policies — a protocol that has been the law in Minneapolis (where Target is HQ'd) for decades.

Wildmon is further quoted with this gem: “What Planned Parenthood is promoting here is just stupidity masked as sensitivity.” What a rare treat it is to have Tim Wildmon inform us about what is, or is not, stupid.
