Hate group leader claims that conversion therapy bans constitute child abuse

Christian Family Coalition
Hate group leader Anthony Verdugo of Christian Family Coalition is at it again. Tuesday's email, with the above graphic, reiterates his organization's talking points:
MIAMI- On Tuesday, October 3rd, Christian Family Coalition (CFC) Florida will rally to protect parental rights. Miami-Dade County has a proposed ordinance to ban parents, pastors and everyone else, from counseling minors who have been raped and/or sexually abused and have unwanted homosexual urges and sexual identity disorder.

You are making the difference. Your calls, your emails, and your online petition signatures have reached the commissioners! Common sense has prevailed, but the fight is NOT over.
Verdugo continues to claim, inaccurately, that the Miami-Dade ordinance bans parents from discussing sexuality with their children. He also continues to falsely claim that sexual abuse is responsible for children being gay or having gender dysphoria which he incorrectly refers to as gender identity disorder. I never know whether this guy is ignorant, stupid, full of crap or all three. Who cares? The main point is that Verdugo is a toxic purveyor of misinformation about LGBT people.

I would be surprised if this ordinance did not pass. Verdugo drones on:
Univision took out a poll on twitter and had Miami-Dade constituents vote. Look at the results!
After all, what could be more scientifically reliable than a Twitter poll? It's also irrelevant. As was pointed out earlier today, there is simply no scientific basis for gay conversion therapy.

Last May, the Southern Poverty Law Center published a comprehensive report entitled "Quacks: 'Conversion Therapists,' the Anti-LGBT Right, and the Demonization of Homosexuality."

If some folks on Twitter are fine with juvenile gay conversion therapy then some folks on Twitter do not fully understand the issue. Verdugo sees things that no one else appreciates, like:
The constituents of Miami-Dade County have voted online. Now it's your turn to be there on October 3rd!
