Trump continues to run for re-election at our expense

A couple of anti-LGBT judicial nominations in Texas that unfortunate citizens might have to live with for decades.
Donald Trump
Donald Trump is as pious as an over-ripe avocado. Yet he owes his election victory to evangelical Christians who pulled levers for the tacky bankruptcy cheat and thrice-married philanderer. Trump is a man who doesn't pay anyone. It is a standard practice at his company not to pay bills in order to negotiate with desperate suppliers to reduce the amount owed. The same is probably true with political debts. In his narcissistic mind he is paying them forward.

Matthew J. Kacsmaryk

The first of these miscreants is Matthew J. Kacsmaryk to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Kacsmaryk is the number four guy at Kelly Shackelford's asylum, First Liberty Institute. FLI is in the business of defending people who break nondiscrimination laws protecting LGBT people. Shackelford has a rather embellished narrative to support his assertions that Christians are under intense persecution in America.

Kacsmaryk served as an assistant U.S. attorney for five years ended in 2013. He is a graduate of Abilene Christian University and has a law degree from University of Texas (2003). We are told that he was a member of The Federalist Society, Christian Legal Society, and Bible Study Fellowship. On his Martindale profile there are two fake peer reviews. Both have the same date in 2013 just as Kacsmaryk was joining Shackelford's operation. I am certain that gay and trans people would get a fair shake from this guy just as I am certain that Trump is fit to serve as president.

Jeffrey C. Mateer
The second of these wizards is Jeffrey C. Mateer for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Mateer currently serves as the First Assistant Attorney General of Texas. In other words he works for Ken Paxton. Mateer has a JD from Southern Methodist University (1990). Guess where Mateer worked before the State of Texas. That's right. First Liberty Institute. Ugh.

Texas Freedom Network President Kathy Miller said:
This is a clear a signal that President Trump intends to make our federal courts the place where civil rights go to die.
Mateer is a bit of a theocrat to put it mildly. I found this quote. At a conference in Houston, Mateer explained how he explained the separation of church and state to students:
I’ll hold up my hundred-dollar bill and say, ‘for the first student who can cite me the provision in the Constitution that guarantees the separation of church and state verbatim, I’ll give this hundred dollar bill.’ … It’s not there. … The protections of the First Amendment protect us from government, not to cause government to persecute us because of our religious beliefs.
I have no idea what makes Trump think that either of these theocrats is qualified for a lifetime appointment as a federal judge.  As far as Trump is concerned, the don't have to be qualified.
