DoJ removes federal workplace protections for trans workers

Jefferson Beauregard Sessions, III is the bigot from 'Bama. We have known that for a very long time. Wednesday, Sessions sent a memorandum to the offices of U.S. attorneys' offices notifying them that sex discrimination protection according afforded by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 only applies to natal sex.

In other words it is department policy that federal government is free to discriminate against transgender employees regardless of their job performance. This is yet another move to de-Obama the United States of America. In 2014 Justice sent out a memo indicating that trans discrimination is sex discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

In August the Justice Department intervened in a case involving workplace discrimination to assert that Title VII did not apply. However, it was believed that federal workplace discrimination protections would remain. Now we know that they do not.

Early on, the Trump administration yielded to the holier-than-thou set by removing protections afforded trans and gender nonconforming kids in public schools over the objections of Secretary Betsy DeVos. That change in policy was also at the insistence of Sessions. More recently Trump has instituted a trans ban in the U.S. military. The Pentagon's own contracted research organization, The Rand Corporation, advised otherwise.

Whatever personal opinions Trump may or may not have regarding LGBT people, he is determined to conform to the wishes of the religious right. Less than a year into a tumultuous presidency, Agent Orange is plotting his reelection. Trump is a sociopath. He has little concern for the harm that he might do others. Everything for Trump is about Trump.
