Yawn ... Drag queens reading to kids in the library poses an immense danger

Leave it to Fr. Mark Hodges to attempt to disparage LGBT people. The Orthodox priest is obsessed with the lives of gay and trans folks. Today's polemic is titled: “Satanic-looking drag queen reads to children at library named after Michelle Obama.” And if the drag queen didn't look satanic, would that make a difference? Apparently the fact that the library is named after Michelle Obama has some relevance. I have absolutely no idea what the is and neither does the rather dull-witted Father Hodges.
Transvestite Xochi Mochi dressed as a satanic clown with red-tipped demon horns and read to little children for Drag Queen Story Hour at the Michelle Obama Public Library in California.
Oh my! Obviously all of those kids are going to become gay or trans or, … both or, … … something.

The entertainer might be a transvestite but chances are that Xochi is not. A transvestite cross-dresses for sexual pleasure. A drag queen is an entertainer. That's it. Yes, drag queens are a part of gay culture but all drag queens are not gay or trans or anything else.

A good example of the obvious is Dame Edna Everage. Dame Edna is a cross-dressed character created by Barry Humphries, a comedian. Humphries is married and has four children. Pronouns, by the way, vary depending upon presentation. Dame Edna's are female, Humphries' are male.

I am trying to make two points:
  1. The sexual identity and sexual orientation of this entertainer are irrelevant.
  2. That individual is a person! He or she is not there to be objectified as a sex object.
He or she is there to entertain the children. If someone wanted to, they could get to know that person — Hodges has no interest in doing so. As far as he is concerned, he is in drag; therefore, he is a pervert; therefore he presents a danger to children. None of that is true.
DQSH is a growing fad promoted by LGBTQIA+ activists in collaboration with publicly-funded libraries across the nation. Mochi's performance was worked out by the Michelle Obama Public Library in Long Beach, the LGBTQ Center of Long Beach, the Genders and Sexualities Alliance Network, and the LGBTQ Imperial Court of Long Beach.
The reality is that kids love dress-up. What is first being promoted is an interest in books. At the same time children are learning something about gender through someone who defies convention. Those are both positive experiences for the kids.
Tax dollars were used to promote the event, which was endorsed by the City of Long Beach. "@LBCityLibrary invites you to the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library for a celebration of LGBTQ History Month! #NationalComingOutDay," the city tweeted.
Cultural events are often subsidized with tax dollars in one form or another. Should this be an exception because some fucking priest from Lima, Ohio does not approve? Really?
Mochi posted that DQSH was one of “the best experiences I’ve been given as a drag queen.”

The drag queen acknowledged that the goal of homosexual activism is to normalize all forms of perversion and sexual deviancy. He wrote, "It’s so important to have representation and normalize all the letters in LGBTQIA+ in everyday lives."
i wish that I could entertain children. My partner often translated my English-to-kidspeak so that our nephews could understand what the hell I was trying to say. But if I could it would be a great experience for me to. Hodges should understand — as an adult — that people speak for themselves, not for a concept or movement. More importantly, Xochi is correct. Gender identity and sexual orientation (both are continua) are natural variants of human sexuality. That is the science. Stereotyping people based on their sexuality is the very definition of prejudice. Teaching kids not to fear someone who is different seems like the kind of lesson most grownups would support.

I do not know how the teachings of the Orthodox Church differ from those of Catholicism. However, teaching kids that gay people are “objectively disordered” is just idiotic and based upon ancient superstition. Teaching them that gender identity is a subjective pastime called “gender ideology” is equally moronic. The study of sexuality is a scientific undertaking in contrast to viewing the subject through the prism of religious dogma.

In the final analysis, when children are taught factual inaccuracies about sexuality then they are taught to hate others who vary from the norm. They are also taught to hate themselves if they vary. If Hodges is looking for perniciousness, he is more likely to find it in religious ideology than drag queens.
Omar Navarro, the Republican challenger to U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters for her Congressional seat in the California district, tweeted that he was “outraged” with the children’s library. “What are we teaching kids in school? Demonic teachings alive in Long Beach. I’m outraged they would allow this.”

Parents and others also criticized DQSH. "Drag Queen Story Time is sick brainwashing of children," Nate Storm tweeted. "Kids exposed to this type of garbage end up mentally warped."

"What is the educational purpose of children being exposed to this? Other than brainwashing them into thinking this is normal," Marie Antoinette posted.
“Demonic?” Make your kids neurotic and afraid. “Mentally warped?” Acceptance of people who are different makes them warped? I will take warped any day of the week over superstitious fools. Do these morons think that exposing children to differences is going to make them gay or trans? What are you teaching kids? To hate others and, perhaps, themselves?

Some of these people are going to have LGBT children. Some of these people are going to have children who, one day, will have LGBT coworkers, perhaps an LGBT boss. How will they ever cope with one of life's realities?
"Interesting what the New Left wants to normalize," wrote JunoWho. "Humanizing monsters. I believe it's called 'grooming.'"

In response to the tweeted criticism, the "Church of Satan" simply wrote, “Hail Satan!”

Mochi's YouTube homepage explains that he is a "Killer Klown from outer space, stationed here on Earth."
The bigotry that is expressed and repeated is outrageous. Just re-quoting a Twitter exchange is imbecilic. We don't know who these people really are or how representative they are. And no, that is not called “grooming.” Grooming is what Catholic priests do to slowly accustom children to being molested. Child molesters are almost all heterosexual with a fetish for children. Gerry Sandusky is the paradigm.

The performer seems more together than the rest of this group. He is, by the way, a gay man and a committed entertainer who pays a great deal of attention to what he refers to as the illusion.

As the New York Times explained, these events bring hundreds of people plus the media to the library. The kids? They just love it all. Hopefully they will develop the reading habit. It is an important part of my life that allows me to escape physical and mental boundaries.

At the same time if the kids learn to see people as individuals who are not defined by their sexuality they have gained important knowledge. It will serve them well in the future. It will affect their education and their career path positively.

Just in passing, I did send a polite email to Hodges' bishop. No reply thus far. Hodges needs some counseling.
