Sunday reading

David Cole has a superb piece in the New York Review of Books regarding Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado CRC. Cole is National Legal Director of the ACLU and Hon. George J. Mitchell Professor in Law and Public Policy at Georgetown.

Two opinion pieces in the New York Times caught my attention:

The first of these is titled Dear Nobel Winners, Mr. Trump Has All the Brains He Needs. It is a caustically satirical piece explaining why Agent Orange is not inviting America's recent Nobel laureates to the White House as has been the tradition.

The second is an editorial titled The Trump Administration Is Making War on Diplomacy. It is a terrifying piece about the ineptitude of Rex Tillerson to run the State Department. Aside from Trump's desire to flex military muscle over diplomacy we are going to be paying the price for decades due to the number of senior foreign service professionals (equivalent to three-star and four-star generals) who have departed. Moreover, recruitment numbers are dwindling. As inept as Tillerson is, he might be the least incompetent member of the cabinet. Three more years of this bullshit.
