Please remember our incompetence and ineptitude this holiday season

National Organization for Marriage
National Organization for Marriage has sent out an email Thursday with the subject line of [first name], please remember us this holiday season. I guess that depends upon how they wish to be remembered. What, exactly, have they accomplished in 2017 other than to provide me and others with blog fodder?

Brian S. Brown is as shameless as Frank Gallagher:
We are very grateful for the friendship and support we've received from so many people over this past year. Your prayers and good wishes have helped sustain us throughout a sometimes turbulent but amazingly productive and successful year.

As the year begins to draw to a close, I'm writing to ask you to please remember us in your holiday plans and make a much-needed financial contribution at this critical time. And the good news is that whatever amount you donate now will be matched, dollar for dollar, thanks to a generous supporter who has pledged to match all donations up to a total of $250,000.
I have been tracking 2016 campaigns to see how they relate to the tax return. I am not done yet but it doesn't look good for Brown's credibility or NOM's. Brown tries to list some accomplishments. It only highlights just how ineffective the anti-LGBT organization has been.
  • We helped repeal President Obama's illegal "transgender bathroom" order that jeopardized the privacy and security of children in our public schools.
  • We helped secure the reversal of Obama's disastrous use of the military to advance the transgender agenda.
  • We helped secure a government-wide directive that every federal agency and department must fully respect and accommodate the religious liberty rights of people of faith to live out their beliefs about marriage and other issues.
  • We urged President Trump to appoint a true constitutionalist to the Supreme Court, and he delivered with the nomination of Neil Gorsuch. NOM worked tirelessly to help secure Justice Gorsuch's confirmation.
NOM had no influence over, or responsibility for, any of those things. It is like saying that I helped to defeat Roy Moore because I support the agenda of Doug Jones. But it gets even better:
Beyond our work with the Trump administration, we also won some amazing victories in the courts and in the court of public opinion. Most recently, we poured everything into the case of Masterpiece Cakeshop v Colorado Civil Rights Commission, a major case that has the potential of significantly improving the legal climate for people of faith to continue to live out the truth of marriage at work and in their daily lives.
NOM spent a meager sum to submit an amicus brief similar to dozens of other amicus briefs. That constitutes “pouring everything into” the case? They are declaring victory in advance of the Supreme Court ruling which they will take credit for if things break in their direction. ADM would be more than a bit miffed at that.
Right now, our resources have been nearly exhausted with this latest Supreme Court battle which is why this year-end matching gift opportunity is so important to us. If you'd like to really maximize your support for NOM, please consider becoming a Sustaining Member of our organization.
They spend next to nothing on Masterpiece. What the hell are they talking about. They don't even attempt to look credible anymore.
