And that brings me to Cornerstone Payment Systems

Cornerstone Payment Systems
Cornerstone Payment Systems is Peter LaBarbera's credit card processor:
Cornerstone is one of the nation's leading Christian owned and operated independent sales organizations in the merchant processing industry. We have a commitment to separate our transaction processing services from the remainder of the industry. We do this by putting Christ at the cornerstone of our business.
The overwhelming majority of American businesses are “Christian owned and operated.” The intended inference is that they operate under Christian principles which is highly ambiguous. The pastor of the Miami Beach Community Church seems to believe that Christian principles include the full acceptance of LGBT people, just the way that they are.

I have no objections to Cornerstone processing credit cards for AFTAH. What I object to is the lack of disclosure. If a non-exempt organization is soliciting donations then they are morally obligated to post a notice that donations are not tax deductible. Most people, I think, will assume that Americans for Truth is tax-exempt and take the deduction if they itemize. Therefore, we all get to subsidize an operation ineligible for the subsidy. LaBarbera, meanwhile will continue to operate in secret.

Visiting Cornerstone's website, a noisy chat box pops up and asks me if I have any questions? “Typically replies in a few minutes.”
Yes I do. Why do you allow non-exempt groups to use your service for donations without the disclaimer that donations are NOT tax deductible? It is a lie of omission.
By the time I post this, over an hour will have expired since I asked and I have no reply. I have posed this question to them before by email and never received a reply. It is an eminently fair question. Apparently being Christian does not require any particular courtesy. Just to be fair, I posed the same question to PayPal a couple of years ago. They did not reply either.

These are the same people who rail against “big government.” However, some federal action is now required because of their lack of oversight and common sense. It is pointless with the current composition of Congress but that may change. In that event, those good Christians will just have to cope.
