Common sense and science prevail at Fairfax County School Board

Bill Donohue
Blowhard Bill was one of those objecting to proposed curriculum changes by the Fairfax County School Board
Today there is a single line entry at Highlights from the Jun 14, 2018 Regular School Board Meeting:
The School Board approved the recommended media and lesson objectives as reviewed and recommended by the Family Life Education Curriculum Advisory Committee.
Those recommendations from the FLECAC were the source of a conservative Christian shit fit. According to Blowhard Bill Donohue at Eurasia Review:
The list of changes reads like a page out of the gay rights agenda, so thoroughly out of touch with reality are they. Before assessing them, the most pressing issue for the Catholic League is the proposal to eliminate the clergy from the list of competent advisors to young persons who are confused about sexuality.
Blowhard Bill also has a case of Masterpiece Cakeshop contagion:
Tolerance and nondiscrimination? What the Advisory Committee is proposing is intolerance and discrimination. Indeed, the proposal smacks of religious hostility, a scourge that the U.S. Supreme Court said last week (see the Masterpiece Cakeshop decision) is constitutionally prohibited. Is the Fairfax County school board prepared to spend large sums of money on a lawsuit challenging its discriminatory initiative?
Oh please. Catholic clergy have disqualified themselves from counseling youth regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. The Church teaches that gay people are “objectively disordered.” That is false. It is also superstition over science. The Church essentially teaches that transgender people do not really exist. Again, that does not conform to medical science.

Blowhard Bill thinks that a threat of litigation is a legitimate answer to policy that he does not like. The school district probably has litigation insurance. I fully expect Liberty Counsel (a hate group) to sue through a couple of Christian parents. I suspect that the school board expects Liberty Counsel to sue. It is not a valid criticism of a policy.

Bill likes litigation as long as it is not against the Church due to pedophile priests. Blowhard Bill is also the  guy who asserted that those sexy alter boys are responsible for seducing the clergy.

According to Breitbart (which is something less than authoritative): Virginia Parents Overwhelmingly Reject Gender Ideology-Based Sex Ed. At this point, I think that every critical thinker knows that the terms “gender ideology” and “gender confusion” are religious substitutes for gender dysphoria.

Here's a shocker from Breitbart:
In a letter to the school board, Dr. Michelle Cretella, president of the American College of Pediatricians; Dr. Donna Harrison, executive director of the American Association of Pro-life Obstetricians and Gynecologists; and Dr. David Stevens, chief executive officer of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations, commented on some of the advisory committee’s proposed revisions to the Fairfax County FLE.
I cannot find a copy of this letter but here is a reported highlight:
“Sex declares itself in utero; it is recognized and acknowledged at birth,” they wrote. “Gender refers to the stereotypical social roles associated with sex. Gender is not an innate biological trait. Gender identity refers to a person’s awareness of being male or female. Gender identity is a cognitive and psychological trait that exists in the mind.”
That is the babble they use to justify conversion therapy and discredit gender affirmation. It is religion over medical science. Breitbart would like readers to believe that American College of Pediatricians is the legitimate professional organization. That would be the American Academy of Pediatrics. Cretella's group is a tiny Christian organization deemed a hate group by Southern Poverty Law Center.

The full recommendations and dissenting opinions of the Fairfax School Board Family Life Education Curriculum Advisory Committee are here. They are in consideration of the best interests of all students, including those who are LGBTQ.
